A buddy of mine and I had this conversation several years ago about what we thought were realistic expectations for the program.

1 NC every 10 years.(In the hunt late Nov 3-4 times)
3 SEC Championships
4-5 Top 10 finishes
Should finish in the top 25 every year

Thoughts?

10 NC or what is the point of playing the game?

3 SEC Championships

makes sense. i have said the same. one every 3 years basically or i would gladly take 3 in 10 years. Miles has not met this mark(unless he wins the SEC next year). Miles is grossly overpaid for the product he has put on the field.

I will not even compare him to the crimson dwarf. We do not even want to go there.

Mine, in general, is to be a legitimate contender for ATL, not a darkhorse but a team that no one would be surprised if we won. This year we are solidly middle tier, like 2008 and 2009. Hopefully it will just be this year.

i would be ok with this. But if Bama continues to play the way they do it may be difficult to have the first two

We will likely finish outside of the top 25 this season.

No with the talent we have the coaching staff we should go for 10 chicken bowls.

3 sec west titles in ten years is more realistic.

3 Lsu
3 bama
1 eatme
1 auburn
1 ark
1 wildcard

Now top ten finishes should be a normal finish. Top 20 finish nine out of ten.

We'll be in the CFB Playoffs 3 of the next 4 years. Book it.

3 SEC titles in 10 years is completely unrealistic.

Alabama has the most SEC titles with 23 and that works out to be about 3.2 a decade.

And they have the most by a wide margin.

1-2 SEC titles over a decade is what the rest of the SEC powers should be expecting (UF, UT, UGA, LSU, AUB)

That is called settle for mentality. Don't set those expectations too high and you will never be disappointed

As long as Saban is at Bama I think you need to lower the SEC championships expectation from 3 to maybe 2. I would expect maybe 1 championship over the next 5 years. I hope I am wrong but I am trying to be realistic.

One SEC championship and perhaps compete for a NC once.

You guys don't remember the old days when LSU just wasn't that good. Because LSU wasn't good in the old days, you just have to accept that LSU isn't a top tier program like Michigan or Nebraska. Miles guarantees we get a winning season each year. How many programs have a winning season each year? Not many! Not to mention I'd much rather have a goofy family man as our head coach than some type A butthead who's occasionally mean.
