So we should now become UMass fans for the rest of the season! Also, South whenever you hear the latest on Martin please update us. I have been waiting to see or hear the post game quotes but they haven't been posted yet and there is no update on Twitter yet also that I have seen. Thanks!

Look, they're going to be shooting more mid-range shots. Just watch. It's going to happen.
I agree. In the first few practices I've seen the team have been practicing plays for this situation, mainly with the freshmen so far.
Interesting how it will evolve during the season

Do you still work with the team?

Meh, we just need for them to not be terrible so this won't go down as a "bad loss". If we had won, I'd agree with you.

When the game began to be called more leniently beginning in the late 80's and especially the early post-Shaq 90's, the mid-ranger was the one thing that went the way of the dodo. If officiating reverses its trend, I see it coming back.
I'm not so sure... Though I don't think (I hope) the games will all be whistled THAT tightly, the way the game was officiated today, was a constant drive to the basket and get a layup or foul. The only other play is go down to the post and do the same. I think that's the trend though small sample size.
I get that they are trying to clean all the hand checks and physicality up, but surely not every time contact is made there should be a whistle. There needs to be a middle ground. It will be interesting to watch the games tonight to see how those games are played and called.

But the more they win the better our loss looks so we might as well root for them

Yes. Always.
Didn't get to watch the game. Did we come out strong? Score looks pretty convincing.

UMass led the whole game, but never by more than 10 IIRC. Martin got hurt in the 1st minute and didn'y play the rest of the way. Fouls were a HUGE story in the game. LSU had 20 fouls in the 1st half alone (UMass also got into foul trouble in the 2nd half) JOBIII was dominating inside until he picked up a 4th foul on a horrible call with 13:00 to go. LSU pulled within 1, but couldn't overtake them. UMass stretched it out a bit late, but LSU got a few steals off the press to close the gap. JOBII,Stringer, Mickey and Hickey played well. JOBIII and Mickey both had double/doubles

Ugh I forgot about the game and accidentally saw the score

Article from a Massachusetts newspaper even says foul calling played a factor in Umass winning LINK

To be honest with you, if Martin plays we win this game prob by 10 or more. Having another athletic, very talented big man on the floor would have been a huge difference maker.

Really good recap. Our shooting 15-25 from the FT line is important to note as well.

Darcy sustained an elbow to the face in training and has 15 stitches in his mouth. Jones definitely didn't have a full pack to select from with injuries as they were. Still a close and exciting game.
Damn, that hurts as well. Could have used him not to get JOB those fouls late

You watching the Mich St-Kentucky game? Called NO WHERE as close as LSU's game. Hands and elbows on each other and no where as many calls.

Some puss calls in the kent. vs. Mich.ST. game but not nearly the crap called in LSU's game. Those refs were awful!!!
