I've seen some guys brag on their LSU rooms and walk away sad for them. They put so much of themselves in being a fan that they've lost touch

Just curious but what makes you think that you are the authority on how other people live their lives?Who are you to say that they are doing it wrong and you are doing it right?
Everybody's different. I take from reading your posts in the past that you are an ex-player , but to me you trying to down others for living their lives how they see fit because you live yours differently is what's SAD.

I have witnessed them sit in their purple leather recliners, snap at their kids, and be douches to their wives simply due to LSU losing. They then stay miserable all week until the next game.

Yea.....it ain't me......

Eta: making your kids share one bedroom so the other can be an LSU room is fricking pathetic.

A friend's dad died during a LSU game in Tiger Stadium, I believe it was around 1979. She said each game for him was as serious as a war, if LSU won there was not a moment of joy, just a shift to worrying about the next game. On his last game night LSU was down 3 or something like that, had possession of the ball, but the clock was running out, he was screaming for them to call timeout and dropped dead from a heart attack. For some the game really is as serious as life and death!

And with focus on life's true wonders, that wouldn't happen.

At some point, fandom becomes a clinical issue.....

We all know that guy, but thats an extreme not the normal fan. There also is a significant difference between an "investment" (money, time, family tradition)in something as opposed living your life through something (LSU football)because your life sucks or you are a failure.

...there's a reason a large portion of professional sports team fans are uneducated and so crazy passionate. They have not been successful and try to replace it with their team's success on the field of play.
That's a perfect description of both Alabama fanatics AND nutty L.S.U. Sunshine Pumper types.

We can't even rant on the rant without some Frazier telling you that your a loser. I'll mind my own feelings you do gooder. If your such a zen master, the rant seems like a bad place for you to hangout!

I am not thrilled with this season, but I have put things in perspective and realize its a leisure activity devoted to my alma mater and does not define my success at life.

IIRC, you're a former player. I was reading the FB posts over the weekend of a former player I know slightly, who made the trip to Tuscaloosa. He was all about the great time he had, socializing with fans, family, and friends. I'm sure he was disappointed in the loss, but it didn't wreck his weekend. Maybe guys who actually played the college game have a more balanced perspective than the average fan.

If all these losers where not so passionate about this game I don't think it would be played at the level it's played these days. I dont think your watered down, balanced perspective is driving this machine. Arguements, fist fights, the feeling of victory and defeat drive this machine. We as fans can leave that perspective to ex players who have had their arse's whooped like our Oline saturday night!

I was on pins and needles all day Saturday, and was as wound up as anybody during the game. I was sick at my stomach when we lost. But the sun did come up the next morning, and nothing in that game affected my life in a material way. We all just need to take a step back sometimes, that's all.

At least he died being passionate about something he loved. Some poeple are afraid to stand for anything for fear of being connected to it!

Actually, its the exact opposite. It is so called "negatigers". The ones that are so crazy passionate, they meltdown after every loss and call for Chief's head for every first down given up.

Chuck, I love LSU footbal and am disappointed if they lose. But with that said, it is just a game and that's all it is. I have much bigger fish to fry in this game called life than beating myself up over an LSU loss in football. Besides, like him or not Miles makes it a damn fun brand of football to watch, and the players have fun playing for him. Isn't that what sports and games are all about.

I just do this thing where I drink a ton of beer on game days.

If we lose, I'll be pissed for about an hour. And then life goes on.

Well of course that is pathetic and I don't doubt you,but let's be honest here. What percentage of Lsu fans do you think fall into this category? Less than 1 percent? Your statements seem to be directed toward a much larger group than that. I mean why would you start a thread on a social media site and try to prove a point based on less than 1 percent of our fanbase to support our argument?
