i dont think anyone wants chavis fired. hell, other than dj mccarthy (who HAD to go) has miles actually fired a coach ever?

there are problems across the board with the defense, scheme and personnell wise. chavis has been running his stuff for over 20 years so its not like offensive coordinators are losing sleep at night trying to figure out ways to exploit it. i'd like to see him mix it up but therein lies the problem with personnell, some of them just aren't very good.


and if jalen collins can get benched why cant welter?

my suspicion is that welter seems to consistently be getting guys lined up in the right spots, whether whos covering the flats, dlineman in the wrong gap, etc. My guess is that chavis has no faith whatsoever in the ability of lamar louis or beckwith handle that responsibility. much less faith in the other young guys to get their assignments right on their own. so he's trading off reducing the risk of busted assignments, which can lead to big plays, for a marginal downgrade in athleticism.
