I'll take us missing the pick on him only if it's because we are picking #32.

So will I. You'd probably have to be in the top 15-20 for him. Maybe higher if he continues to play like he has been.

I think there's room there for him to adjust and go get it before the tip.

Before the last second tip, the ball was coming down right in his arms. This wasn't some kind of jump ball or high pass where the wr goes and gets it. Cb just made a great play.

Then it did get tipped, and was still catchable if he'd have extended his arms

By the time a receiver's brain notes the tip that ball is gone, baby, gone! No way any receiver in the league catches that. It does make you look stupid, though.

Another thing that has happened to me 100 times in flag/touch football is when a DB cuts in front of me, and is clearly going to tip the ball. I open my arms to prepare for the tip; he completly whiffs; and the ball hits me in the face. I'm hanging my head back to the huddle and trying to explain why I didn't catch a ball that was right in my hands.

Remember when Colston was doing his thing with the Saints, they did not have Graham. At that time Colston was probably the biggest target Brees had, so he was the man. Graham presents a much bigger target and is serious mis-match 1 on 1. About his contract, Colston got the money based on his previous play on the field and his potential play. Remember, Colston was drafted in the last round 2nd to the last pick or something like that, so he was getting paid nothing compared to how well he was playing. Also Colston was never the fastest receiver on the Saints roster. Although he put up the most numbers back then, but in all honesty, Colston wasn't even Brees' 1st read, 2nd read at the most. Colston proved his worth by keeping the chains moving on 3rd downs. Henderson stretched the field and Meacham got traded last year, but he's back. This year Graham has been Brees's primary, Stills has been the one to stretch the field with big plays, and Moore is coming back off injury. As another person wrote, 8 years in the league is good and hard stretch. He has lost a step and not breaking containment like before and DB know how to play him, and when he's on the field he gets a lot of attention, which creates 1 on 1 coverage for other receivers. Also, the run game is not as good as it can be, to create a play action. I think Brees needs to sell the play action a bit better. When he drops and pretend to hand to ball to back, the back is about 2 yards away. No defenses by that. They know he is going to pass.

This thread seems to have been caused by the comments of Dan Dierdorf (sp?). Dierdorf is a moron. (That's probably a compliment.) Year's ago, he spent a large part of a Saints' game making fun of the Fleur-de-lis emblem on the Saints' helmets. He suffers from an incurable disease called "diarrhea of the mouth". Unfortunately, his mouth is so big that it's hard to find a nearby object to plug it when his stupid comments start to spurt out.

Until a game ago we had a tight end on pace to catch 120 passes for 2000 yards and 20 touchdowns. OFF COURSE no other receiver's numbers would jump off the page.

great post.

and yes, Colston sure as hell came up with the clutch catch to pull the Saints out of the fire in the TB game.

Colston has been so consistent over the years so I get why some might be down on him. But we've still got a whole half of a season to play and then some.

a lot can happen in that time.

Kenny Stills is what happened to him. He is still a great player but why injury him in the slot when you have Stills on the outside making plays...
