I don't know if I agree. Miami punished itself late in both years when they knew there was no chance go to a big bowl. If they were undefeated one of those years I have a feeling they may not have banned themselves.
One of those years they could have played in the acc championship game so they could have played in a bcs bowl game.

Alabama was not jumping any of the undefeated teams last year. They were not even CLOSE in the BCS the week they lost.

LSU needs to dust off the check book for the remaining players on their board. The NCAA is a joke.

Dude I was partly kidding.

I would have more respect for the bowl bans if they took them before the year began. I think when you are 7-4 or whatever and know you aren't a top 5 team, it's easier to accept a ban.
Does anyone know, ballpark, how much $$$ we are talking about going to illegal recruiting

A viable and strong Miami is good for college football

You're also not taking into account just HOW BADLY the ncaa looked in this case. I'm fairly certain they're just trying to end it with as little egg on their face as possible at this point. Miami self imposing the penalties actually gives them a pretty big out here. Not saying it's completely fair to other programs who have been hit, but it is what it is. Also you can't really use subjective views on the particular bowl /championship bans they imposed. When you start comparing which level bowls they self banned from and their "worth" you make the situation even more complicated. Like sader said they technically banned themselves from a acc title game and shot at bcs bowl money so that's a pretty big deal.

Good..NCAA drug their feet for too long to hammer them.

This is true. If the investigation had been aboveboard Miami would have been hammered with sanctions.

Man a few years ago people made it seem like they were gonna SMU that program
That's cause people are ridiculous and believe every talking head in the media who were being ridiculous as well.
Also ridiculous, the NCAA, they're a sham of an organization!

quote:To be fair, I believe last year, they banned themselves while leading their division and many thought they had a solid shot to win their division. Just that gets you playing for a BCS bowl.

quote:Defending national champ runner up, but yea I agree, Miami learned the lesson from OSU.
To their credit, they learned from OSU and took the extra step of banning themselves a 2nd year. If not for the bowl ban, OSU would likely be defending national champs and sitting pretty at #1 in the polls with no worries in the worl

An OSU-Notre Dame title game?
Gawd. I'm glad that didn't happen.
I have a funny feeling Notre Dame would've squeaked that one out in the end in a hypothetical matchup, and "TEO TEO TEO TEO" would be preached everywhere

quote:Wait, ND was undefeated? Damn, I'm old, can't remember.
I agree, but Alabama wouldn't have sniffed the title game. Fairly or not, would have been OSU/ND
Then yea, OSU would have likely beaten ND.
