DKR- Bane is awesome in Knightfall.
Spoilers following -

Kntfall doesn't work without JP Valley. Bane is never defeated by something worse, and we never see or feel the Redemption/Reclaiming of Batman by Wayne.
Movie tries with to do this with the prison escape but it is not nearly enough. The movie completely craps the bed with no passing of the mantle in the middle, but then tacks it on at the end. Just for an escape to tie things up.
These writers tried to stay a little honest to Knightfall, but changed the story too much for it to work.

IM3- the Mandarin & Extremis both have huge story/plot lines. The writers took both of these subjects and twisted, distorted, butchered, and ruined them to make them fit their movie. The end result is a turd. DKR is a disappointment.
IM3 is a turd.

You would think that the writers could figure out how not to rewrite stories that have already been proven to work. Hell, there are plently of GD stupid plots between marvel and DC.
Screw those up instead.

What works in a comic doesn't necessarily work in a movie. John Blake couldn't have possibly taken up the mantle of Batman while Bruce Wayne was in exile. He was a cop with very little fighting skills, whereas Bruce Wayne had spent at least a few years with the League of Shadows perfecting his fighting abilities. And lastly, Knightfall was merely one of a few inspirations for The Dark Knight Rises. No Man's Land and The Dark Knight Returns also contributed themes and plot points to the final form of the film.
