quote:How, precisely? CBS has had that contract for quite some time. 13 of the 14 SEC schools are perfectly fine with 2:30 games. There's not really a power position from which to negotiate there.
Our Admin ought to be able to get some contract concessions with the SEC. If network A is willing to show our game at night, then we should have some latitude to pre-empt network B from moving it to the afternoon.

Great question and I don't presume to have a full answer. However, a few lines of approach:
a) Begin with tradition. Get the SEC to acknowledge the importance of it. It's a huge part of what makes CFB the greatest sport on the planet, not the quality of the players. When tradition is sold-out CFB is reduced to B-grade NFL. The SEC needs to aggressively pursue the preservation of its traditions.
b) Get State on board. They are allowed an exception with their cowbells. No other school to my knowledge is allowed to bring artificial noisemakers into stadiums. If they are unwilling to support us, let'em know we'll actively petition the SEC to stop making an exception for them.
c) We are not asking for full latitude but an option to retain a night game if another network is willing to carry that game. It would be minimal affect to the SEC's income since any loss to CBS would be a gain to ESPN.
d) Request that the SEC as much as possible, schedule our home SEC games on the same day as other SEC marquee games.
e) Let the SEC know TGBFTL will play Neck 20X accompanied by the famed student section boys choir during any day game.
Oh well. Just some thoughts. It just seems as if we never hear that our Admin voicing our concerns to the SEC.
