I agree with all of your eloquently written post.

I remember the day when it was all about one thing: Going to see the Tigers play. It didn't matter who the opponent was, what the ranking was, what time the game was, or what the temperature was....if the purple and gold was going to suit up, people were going to be there, come hell or high water, JUST TO SEE THE TIGERS.

Those days are gone. If the opponent isn't Alabama, people don't care. If the Tigers have a couple of losses....oh well, the season is over....no point to going to see the game.

It is now all about who can have the biggest and best tailgate. The game is the nuisance that interferes with the social aspect. To each their own. It is what it is. It is sad, really.

I guarantee if LSU were to ban tailgating on campus altogether, there would be plenty of places to park for those who actually want to go to the game. And we would find out who the REAL football fans are.

don't ban tailgating... but... maybe restrict access to people WITHOUT tickets or charge them....which I am surprised they don't do.

This. I think tailgating has become more of a nuisance than anything. What used to be years ago a family enjoying a meal before a game has turned out to be a big free party that encourages too many people to crowd onto the campus. Tiger stadium holds just under 100k; on any given Saturday there are twice than many on campus. Why do they need to be there if they're not going to the game?
