Man of Steel might be one of my 3 or 4 favorite movies of all time.
I can't even begin to comprehend this. What might be the other ones?

Why? Its his opinion. He isn't forcing the rest of the world to watch "his" top 4. It shouldn't matter to you.
ETA: What's yours?

Is the torrent version better than the version I saw in the theater? Does it have better writing? If so...I may look this up.
MoS is the most disappointed I've been in a movie in a long time.

Because you seem to be one of the few rational people on this site, why?

I can't say I was not entertained, but I can say that I was disappointed in the film that we got.
Man of Steel is not a great film or even a good one, it's just alright, and that's not a bad thing.

I enjoyed it. They hit a couple of home runs casting Russell Crowe and Michael Shannon. Cavill/Adams were good as well.
I did not like any of the Johnathan Kent scenes. The entire tornado scene was too damn cheesy. I also didn't give a shite about any of the Daily Planet characters besides Lois.
Won't spoil the ending, but I thought that was great too.

Thanks.
I'll see if I can find my original longwinded-as-frick writeup after I saw the movie...

Found it.
It's pretty long, so I'll just link it instead of copy/pasting it here (and it won't fit in one post anyway ).
And I have backed off a little from "it fricking blew." But I was definitely disappointed in it, and couldn't believe it was as bad as it was. I will say that it was "entertaining enough," but with the names attached to it and the potential I felt like it had, I thought it wasn't very good.

I don't think it was great by any means. It certainly didn't blow. It was a different take on Superman and for some that was good, but for me I didn't like it. I wanted a Superman movie that was true to the comic book character I've come to love.

All movie is subjective. I thought The Fountain was the worst garbage I have ever had the misfortune to watch but it seems to have a fanbase.
Since you are asking, my top 5 movies, in no particularly order, are probably these:
- There Will Be Blood
- Lord of the Rings Trilogy (one long movie)
- The Godfather 1 & 2
- Man of Steel
- Braveheart

Saw it 3 times in the theater. I clicked on the stream of the movie that went live today, thinking "I'll just watch the first 10 minutes or so." Next thing I knew, the entire movie had passed. Man of Steel might be one of my 3 or 4 favorite movies of all time.

Very good movie with a terrible bad guy. That itself cannot put it in the running for best movie ever

Re-watched for the fourth time. First time in a few months. Improves greatly upon repeated viewings IMO. The emotional heart of the film is one of its strongest aspects. The relationship between Clark and his parents is one of the most beautiful expressions of the Superman mythos and solidifies why Superman is a HERO. Not because he has to be but because he chooses to be- he honors his birth parents and adoptive parents with equal weight and promise. I also noticed many nods to the original Superman 1978 as you watch with a less judgemental eye after a few times. Costner and Lane knocked it out of the park. Cavill brought a true emotional weight, and Amy Adams had just the right tone between ballsy and caring. Great movie. Anyone who said Zod sucked is easily discountable. Not an epic as it had its flaws, but it outclasses anything Marvel has put out IMO.

MOS has many flaws
Zod was not one of them. He was awesome

You're right. The questions about power and responsibility that the Avenger's raised still hound me at night. Toby's Spiderman had the most emotional resonance of any of their films but all I can see now is him singing and dancing with a big band.
