LSU will have to go back to that passing attack against Alabama. That style they played against Fla will not work. Saban has always made his defenses strong against the run. The last two games is all Miles needs to refer to. Mettenberger had his finest game last season passing on them and I do not see why it shouldn't continue.

I think you are right. That said, if CLM lets CAM have a free hand in that game, I'm sure Saban will get to see things he's never even dreamed of seeing. And his button-down, locked-tight little defensive mind will explode. Or not. Let's hope Nick is expecting the usual from CLM.

I don't think Miles intentionally gave Saban something extra to think about, but I'm sure Saban will see how they ran on UF and it will give him extra concern.

I doubted that LSU would run on UF like that. Their defense is supposed to be as good or better than Bama's. Our O-line opened big holes and in the 4th we were gashing them - always a great sign. Hell, even Copeland averaged four yards per carry.

I think we'll try to be balanced against Bama so they don't know what is coming. I also think Bama's secondary isn't on UF's level. So I see us going down field quite a bit more and passing more than we did against UF. Either way, winning how we did against UF was very good news. I figured it would be lower scoring game and not a big blowout like a number of people were predicting, but I didn't see us running on them like that. I guess UGA was the exception - though we weren't terrible running in that one either.

Guess whose defense is better than Alabama's against the run.

LSU proved against UGA that it doesn't have the d to just out score the opponent. Bama has an offense nearly as good as UGA's was that day. And aTm is better. We can't win against Bama and aTm simply by out scoring them. We have to control the TOP and keep the offenses off the field while keeping our defense fresh.

If passing is the key, then why has the team which ran the ball the best won each of the last four LSU and Alabama games.

I think the LSU staff probably has a much better feel on what it takes to beat Alabama than you or me or anyone else here.
