The students section vs the rest of the stadium
The people who leave early vs the people who stay the whole game
Nega Tigers vs Posi Tigers
Classy fans vs The crazy fans (STTDB)
Our fan base is the best vs our fan base is the worst

people who wear gold to the gold game vs. people who refuse to wear gold to the gold game

This all could have been avoided had Jan 9 2012 not happened. I believe everything bad was started because of this and won't be resolved till we win another NC.

I hate most of our fans, not specific groups.

And this started for me after the Bama lose last year listening to idiot after idiot explain schematically why we lost and did so while sounding about as informed as an Obama phone user.

WOW! Are you for real? Most ridiculous thing I ever read. Perhaps getting a life beyond a football game may help.

shite, if we won on 1/9, it would be worse. Everything must be perfect.

To quote the great Jackie Moon:

"E.L.E" everybody love everybody

but seriously, if there were no TD.com, would we even be aware of this drama? I would think no.

You dont think 10 years ago the old farts were bitching about the students? You dont think the students were bitching about the old farts? There was no medium to express these type of topics. Maybe not about piped in music or STTDB, but there would have been other disputes, just no forum to bring them to light

Severe factions within the LSU fanbase long preceded 1/9, though I do agree with some of what you're saying.

The Flynn-Russell daily threads were truly epic.

Respectfully, I disagree. I think, in fact, it would be worse, not better.

Everybody's got there own theory as to what's going on in TS, but mine is that LSU is a victim of their own success.

One word: Expectations.

10 years ago (hell, maybe less than that) their wasn't the expectation that LSU was simply going to win every game they played without it being a contest. Now, that's the case. At the beginning of the season, most looked at the home schedule and said Texas A&M will be the only "real game"at home this year (i.e. game where it is not a "certainty" that LSU will win, ala Bama last year) . Therefore it should be no surprise that A&M will probably be the most well attended, best atmosphere of the season. Outside of that, every other home game that LSU plays this year in the eyes of many fans is simply just a "formality." As such, many feel that there is no pressing reason to show up, be involved from the start, and stay late. The feeling is "we know LSU is going to win. We don't really have to pay that much attention, so let's just have some fun, start the wave in the 1st Quarter, play with balloons when the outcome is still very much in doubt, etc., etc.

Simply put, for many the actual game has become secondary to the all day event of tailgating. My evidence: Every tailgate I've gone to over the last 3-4 years has generally been attended by 20-30 people. Of those 20-30, maybe 7-10 have tickets to the game. Invariably, as it gets close to game time at least 2-3 of those ticketholders decide for whatever reason that they would just rather stay at the tailgate or go somewhere else to watch the game. The sad part is, they can't even give their tickets away, because everybod else wants to do the same thing. Again, the EXPECTATION is that LSU will win, and they'd rather not stop drinking to go deal with the crowd to watch LSU play a game where the outcome is seemingly already assured.

Then you have those that do go to the game but decide very early on that the tailgate where many of their friends are watching the game on TV would be more fun than sitting in the stadium. Case in point, this past Saturday there were no less than 10 guys between the ages of 23-30 who showed up to their seats on my row and the two rows behind me about 5 minutes (actual, not game) after kickoff, and at the end of the 1st quarter every one of them got up and specifically said, "we're just going to go back to the tailgate". The tailgate was really where they would rather be. It was almost as if showing up to the game was more of an obligation than an opportunity. I would blame it on the heat if this wasn't an recurring theme at just about every game over the past 3-4 years. And this mindset seems to be the prevailing one of many in the 25-35 year old range. By the end of the game, my brother and I looked around our section and there seemed be no younger people left. The only ones that stuck it out were men and women 55+ years of age with bright red sunburnt faces. Maybe they are "better" fans? Maybe they didn't have any tailgates to go back to if they wanted to leave early? Maybe they felt that they spent good money on the tickets and they were going to get their money's worth? Maybe they remember a time when the expectation wasn't that LSU was going to win simply by just showing up? I don't know the reason they stayed until the end, while so many other younger fans left. I can only report what I observed last Saturday, and many Saturday's prior.

P.S. A quick shout out to the SEZ, you guys stay to the end more than anybody else every game.

Another of your spot on posts.

I have been here a long time and before that fateful day, there was absolutely no bickering, no arguments, no diversity of opinion on this site. Every one was of one accord, cordial and in agreement. It was a happy place.

Then IT happened and for many the world hasn't been the same. Rivers now run backward, the ocean is receeding, leaves on the trees are turning colors and dropping in the spring, dogs are giving birth to kittens, strife has become commonplace on the internet, and some tell me that rain has been falling up

All of us here appreciate your keen observation as to the cause of all of the troubles and sorrows in our lives. I sugggest that everyone wear black and dump ashes on our heads on that day every year so that none of us ever forget and move on with our lives.
