Worst MNC team: 2006 Florida or 2007 LSU

I actually think 2006 Florida was the worst team but 2007 LSU had two losses in a really weak year for college football.

Worst Heisman Trophy Winner: Mark Ingram or Troy Smith

To this day, I don't understand how Troy Smith won the Heisman Trophy by such an overwhelming margin. His numbers in 2006 were very similar to the stats A.J. McCarron put up last year.

Troy Smith: 203-311, 65.3 Comp%, 2542 yards, 30 TDs, 6 INTs, 62 rushes, 228 yards, 1 TD

A.J. McCarron: 211-314, 67.2 Comp%, 2933 yards, 30 TDs, 3 INTs, 49 rushes, 174 yards, 1 TDs

McCarron actually put up better passing numbers across the board. But everybody downplays his Heisman chances while Troy Smith managed to win the Heisman in 2006 by a record margin. McFadden should have won the Heisman that year.

JaMarcus was the best QB in college football that year.

How are you determining what weak year is in college football?

I appreciate your post, but as an interesting note. Many LSU fans would say 2006 team better than 2007 team and UF beat
that team. Teams catch breaks, don't catch breaks, etc

Mark Ingram at least showed out against the #1 rushing defense in the land in the national title game. Troy Smith did not. He sucked it up on the biggest stage and his numbers were inferior to 2012 AJ McCarron - a player who wasn't even invited to New York.

Don't forget Smith's line against UF in the MNC:

4-14, 35 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

He played QB for an undefeated OSU team that was going to the NC game. The only real competition he had that year was from McFadden. McFadden put up numbers that were about as good as Ingram did in 09. Ultimately their seasons just ended on completely different notes. McFadden had a meh game while losing to UF in the SEC championship game. Smith had a great game and led OSU to victory over a #2 ranked Michigan team.
