It's weird b/c I think Troy Smith was actually a superior college player to Mark Ingram, but was less deserving based on the other candidates that year, vs. Ingram's year.

Ingram basically benefitted from a shitty year of candidates (except for Suh, i can't quite remember if that was Suh's big year, but frick Suh anyway).

Troy was a bit better, but it was a more egregious error that he won.
