our offense had a bad game today

at least our passing offense; mett missed more open receivers than any game he's played and there were a coupla key drops. boone was wide open on that one play and mett threw it about 5 ft over his head and then our TE was open for a TD on a play where florida had busted coverage. now that's it's over and we won, i'm glad he got his "bad game" out of the way.
our running game looked good though and indeed was good enough to beat them but we sure let them hang around.
where did our D come from?

I don't know about it being "off", we just faced an incredible D and didn't really have to open it up. WE probably went from the shotgun less than 5 times.
Landry dropped 2 passes and HArgreaves pretty much owned him today except for the incredible play Landry made on the near-pick. (to be fair, landry was injured)
No need to open it up when the other offense is LSU 09 offense and your RB is having his way with them.
Mett was a little off, but he's missed passes in other games too, he just made up for them.

Don't be so quick to forget how good Muschamp is at making halftime adjustments on D. He is one of the best.

Chavis blitzed a lot more and seemed to play more zone than we usually do. He also chose his faster players to blitz (eugene) so he could reach the QB in time. The zone coverage allowed our D to keep eyes on the QB.
I am not ready to say our D turned a corner, but they certianly looked better. Some of that is better play and tackling, but some of it is UF's style of offense that allows us to blitz and not have to be so spread out.

No they didn't. They chose to run and not pass. It was a running game workout.

Mett may have been a little off today, but I honestly believe it was our gameplan to run the ball and control the clock and the game. We did that. I just wish instead of taking the knee at the end we had scored again. Just for Florida players acting like such thugs.

So you don't believe the Fla defense had anything to do with it?

It was nice to see the defense help carry the offense to a win today. This is a positive people

yes game is over why not let jenning come in and run the offense get him some game time, if we score great if not so what. especially with Met limping a bit get him to the bench and save his skills for what is ahead on the schedule.

That defense is top 5 in the country. LSU still averaged more than 6 yards per play, averaged 8.9 yards per pass attempt, and rushed for 175 yards. The great thing about it is that this offensive line is getting better.
I really think the only way you come close to stopping this offense is to blitz often and see if your corners can hold up. The amazing this is that Florida didn't even try that approach and they are probably the only team of anyone on the schedule that can do it. I'll be shocked if this team scores fewer than 30 points in any game the remainder of the season.

They played the best defense in the country and scored enough to win.

I thought the game plan sucked, Miles went all 2012 and Mett looked just like he did last year. You have to throw to get into a rhtymn and they just didn't give him or the recievers a chance to get in synch.

175 yards rushing. 175 yards rushing. 175 motherfkn yards rushing !!!!! Get over it.

IF you're playing a team whose only chance at winning is relying on the big turnover (LSU '09 and '11) or big special teams play, why would you risk the turnover by throwing? Especially if RB is going in dry on their defense.

Bah! Other teams are irrelevant. We should win every game 45654 to -18.

Our offense overall did good against a good defense. Mett missed a few passes, and our WR had some drops, but Florida eats a lot of clock with that offense, which limits offensive plays. With that being said, we ran the ball so well we didn't need to throw a lot. Why test a good CB group when hill and company are averaging 4+ yards a carry.

I pointed to this early in the second quarter. He wanted Mett to be a game manager today and pass only to loosen the defense up and when they had to. They probably had two plans. The first, to gash them up the middle since Easley was out and the linebacker play is iffy. The second, just to play our regular uptempo passing offense. I also think the way the defense played dictated the gameplan too. They know that UF is a turnover machine and we'd rather play it safe and smash mouth.
I think they game plan didn't allow Mett to get into a rhythm and with a good defense, it is hard to just start it up on command. When Mett is in a rhythm, there's no college QB better IMO.

what the utmost respect to you granddad, offense played like they should have, played great to the other team's weakness!!

Be happy, we won, Gramps.

Agreed.
UF's DBs are some of the best in the nation. If you're successful running against them, why poke the gator with a stick.
