Still a Top 50 defense
and a top 25 offense

I'll take it.

obviously you never watch a lou tepper coached defense. chief will shape our guys up even if it is gradual and won't pay off much until next year. tepper's defenses got worse as the year went on and he set up "classrooms" on the sideline where he completely mind fricked the players. at games end, they couldn't pass a drivers licsense test.

Correct. That 1999 defense with poor linebacker play (I recall Lou Tepper wrote the book on Complete Linebacking ) was some of the worst we have ever seen

The 98 defense was worse than the 99 defense

If it doesn't grow up real fast, it could be. We have one of toughest remaining schedules in the country and at least one top 5 offense to face.

I agree they only way they stop anybody, if the other team shoots themselves in the foot. How many punts did Miss. St. have like one. The LSU defense can't tackle nobody, it's very sad to watch.

There is only 1 statistic that matters and I am not going to waste any time explaining to you what or why it is.

The past 2 weeks shows you the consequences of our defensive problems. Against a marginal-to-good team like State, the stats can be close and we still end up with a blowout. Against a very good offense like UGA, anything can happen. I'm happy for the win, and the way we played in the 2nd half. Not ready yet to call that the new normal, but hopeful.

UGA gave up > 400 to the worst offense in the SEC yesterday and UT is not very talented other than an outstanding LT. If UT had a Prescott it would have been worse, that guy had his way the first half last night. I saw improvement out of the DBs last night, maybe it helped Loston was out-some of it was defending slower receivers, but there are a lot of dynamic offensive guys in the league right now who are hard to defend consistently. It helps that LSU can score quickly now if UF wants to try and grind clock, should be interesting as always. UGA is decimated on offense right now, I am looking forward to them playing UF later.

1998 and 2013 defenses leave me feeling equally helpless. I kind of think 2013 looks worse.

Regardless of the stats, this defense is beyond pathetic.

Physically, it's getting mauled. It's like Tommy Moffitt took the year off.
It's not particularly fast either.
We thought Rasco would be good. He's not.
No one expected Welter to be a good starter and he's not.
Freak? I know he's being double teamed so that should open it up for someone else.
We can't tackle for shite.
We still look lost after 6 games.

You would have expected one of these highly recruited D-lineman to be decent and push for playing time and they haven't.

It's a total shite-fest on D with no end in sight.

Like Obi Wan Kenobi, Mett is our only hope.

Freak double and triple team...LB's and secondary is young allowing teams to commit bodies to the interior. we have no pass rush because nobody is scared of our second tier.

In 1998 Lou Tepper's defense gave up 29.7 points per game.In 1999 both Dinardo and Lou Tepper were fired.I don't think anyone ever bought Tepper's book.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is the first time in program history that LSU has given up over 400 yards of offense in three consecutive weeks.

Only if your history started with Sabans first championship. Which for too many people that is the case.

This defense has reminded me of Teppers defense the first three SEC games.
