On this new development in Alabama: We basically cut Akiem Hicks loose...

..for something far less and we self-reported it.
As you can see in NO, Hicks is a fricking beast and would have improved and already ridiculous LSU defense in 2010 and 2011.
..with this being the 3rd hit on Alabama in the last couple of weeks.
1. Fluker
2. Former Ole Miss coach belichicking his old team last week.
3. Clinton-Dix getting money from a Coach
..is their any doubt in anyone's mind that this is the dirtiest program in CFB as far as cheating goes?
Also, with all this coming to light this season, will it cause Saban to move on?
Finally, it's hilarious that this comes out when Alabama enters murderers row on their schedule:
Georgia State
Kentucky
Arkansas
Tennessee
My guess is they hope that Clinton-Dix gets a suspension during these 4 weeks so he can be ready for the LSU game on November 9th.

No, but Hicks lost his eligibility.
I can almost guarantee Clinton-Dix will play against LSU.

He lost it because a coach (McCarthy) helped him in a way that is < $500.

Kiffin being gone and this new info makes Bama the dirtiest right now. Hard to believe they are back on top so fast. Winning.

Well, the phone calls and student transportation from the airport was minor, however, McCarthy also set Hicks up at the apartment of a former football player that summer. And when the pair later misled compliance officers when asked where he'd been staying? . . . sounds > $500.00

He'll be back for Nov 9th

Quote from the ESPN article:

Clinton-Dix is expected to miss this weekend's game against Georgia State but should be back with the team within the month, according to a source.
The timing is obvious.
Let him sit the rest of the season.

A close family friend works in the compliance office at LSU and did during the Saban era (he was fired by Saban for being too strict with the rules). He has said Saban is the champ of dirty tactics.

If im not mistaken didnt McCarthy not only give him money, but also help him with housing? That sounds a lot like more than $500 to me.

This was the biggest problem. The fact they lied about it was the reason why he lost his eligibility. If they were upfront about it and told them, he would of been suspended for the season. But, the fact that they lied about it caused the verdict to be much worse.

Every SEC program does things to gain a tactical advantage during a game, and EVERY program has players who recieve "improper benefits". This "coming to light" happens when you've won 3 of the last 4 national championships and your program is prominently in the national spotlight. Make no mistake, if someone really wanted to dig deep into ANY big-time CFB program they would find similar "indiscretions". And yes, despite sitting on your high-horse, that includes LSU.
Was it the plan to self-report after the A&M game but several weeks before the LSU game? Maybe (probably). However it doesn't change the fact that this kind of stuff goes on everywhere. It's always funny to watch one fanbase jump all over a rival school for cheating when they know damn good and well stuff like this goes on in their program. It's like one cheating spouse chastising the other for committing adultry.

Bama isn't the dirtiest program that sounds ridiculous. All of this perfectly timed self reporting is to show that they make a few mistakes and punish themselves so the NCAA leaves them alone. They probably have alot more dirt hidden, but that's why they are being so upfront with the little stuff and at a non critical time in the schedule. The dirtiest programs are the programs that aren't in the spotlight at all for infractions. Everyone makes mistakes the squeaky clean programs are the ones that have something to hide.

These 2 statements contradict each other.
They are self-reporting the small stuff to satisfy the NCAA so the big stuff remains hidden.

Saban has repeatedly said he is happy at Alabama and will never leave...until he sees some serious cash on the table.

Not only Slive...also the head of the NCAA was Saban's boss at LSU, so they know each other very well!!!

I don't doubt that coaches knew BEFORE the start of the season, but decided to withhold it after the Texas A&M game.
However, Ole Miss looked like a threat at that point, so they waited until this week to suspend and self-report.
