Hitchcock movies on TCM this past weekend

Had a movie fest with my kids this weekend. We watched 3 Hitchcock films - Rebecca, Strangers on a Train, and Notorious.
My 13 year old daughter really liked them. I had to explain the subtle sexual nuances of Ingrid Bergman's character in Notorious, but the suspense in each film still keeps modern audiences captivated!
She got excited when she recognized the voice of actor George Sanders who plays Jack Favell in Rebecca as that of the tiger, Shere Khan in The Jungle Book.
I thought that Joan Fontaine was probably much too pretty to play the role of the new wife in Rebecca, since she is supposed to be intimidated by the remembrance of the more beautiful Rebecca, who is never shown.
Here's a pic of Fontaine in Suspicion:
Nevertheless, she carried off the role very convincingly.

My first time seeing Rebecca... I really enjoyed it and hitchcock did an awesome job of hiding where this movie was going.
Mrs Danvers...
One of the creepiest characters ever!!!

Vertigo
This one gets lots of love. I like it but it's not my favorite. I like Psycho better.

North By Northwest
I put this one in a separate grouping due to it's comedy overtones combined with suspense/thriller. I love it.
I put The Birds in this catagory too, not that it has comedy overtones, but the bird attack scenes make me laugh even while I'm terrified.

Rope
I still haven't seen Rope! No excuse but needless to say it's on my list.
Another favorite of mine is Marny. The paternalistic and extreme masculine sexuality of Sean Connery's character is amazing to watch in a post-modern setting!

Wow she's good.
Do you have amazon prime? There's a few more you could show her. More than Netflix.
If she loved those three then she's really going to like most of them then.
I had my 8 year old nephew watch Dial M for Murder (my personal favorite), and he was tuned In the whole time. Asking a few questions along the way. After it was over, he looked at me a d was like "so did they get him?" He wasnt following it quite as well as I thought he was. My 11 year old niece loved it. And watch North by Northwest the next night by herself.

You absolutely must see this one. It's up there with Vertigo as one of my favorite Hitchcock movies.

I watched the second half, and I need to see it again from the beginning.
It was trying to make several strong points which may or may not be true.
First and foremost it was making the point that Hitchcock was a creepy a-hole with a creepy obsession for all of his leading ladies.
Secondly, it was making the point that his wife was a collaborator on all of his movies and was AT LEAST half responsible for his success.
The movie also portrayed Hitchcock as practically demented in his obsession for the macabre. They had a character which was like his inner dark side which he would converse with.
It seemed to be a hit piece on Hitchcock. It acknowledged his greatness as a director but only begrudgingly, and due mostly to his own creepy inner demons and the marvelous saintly contributions of his beleaguered but brilliant wife.

Sundays with Hitch was all month of September, and it was great!
Good for you for watching the best network on TV, and even better for you for sharing it with your kids.
TCM is amazing.

Vertigo is so good. The scene in the Empire Hotel with the neon green and purple.. Hitch was amazing at creating a dream like aura in his films.
NXNW is a favorite for sure, own it and watch it every now and then.
Dial M for Murder and To Catch a Thief would go up there for me too.

Rope is on youtube along with several other Hitchcock films.
Saboteur is another good one. Here's Nazi spy Norman Lloyd (Modern Family) about to fall off the Statue of Liberty. He has to be the oldest still-working actor not named Betty White.
ETA: Here's Lloyd talking about Hitchcock LINK

3 of his top 5 IMO. Vertigo and Psycho, two flawless movies, are probably his two best but Strangers has quickly become my personal favorite. Very rewatchable in my book...they all are really.
