Tagliabue, Rozelle did same thing. They work for the owners. If at any time the owners say don't fine, there won't be fines. If at any time the owners want a new commissioner, there will be a new one.
Goodell didn't lock out the refs, didn't pass any of the targeting rules, the owners did.

Goodell is the owners watchdog. He's right there planning everything along with them. In a lot of past cases he has done shite without the owners participation. You tryin to give him a pass as if he's helpless is laughable.

No you're laughable to think that Goodell has the ultimate power in matters concerning finances. DeMaurice Smith was a smart man during the player lockout to put his anger at Goodell in public. It made him look like a lone ranger.
Goodell does nothing without blessing of the owners.
The owners are wanting to make money, Goodell does that for them.
Look at how O'Brien ran the NBA he nearly bankrupted the thing.

So Goodell is a saint according to you. He does nothing. The owners hold a gun to his head. frickin please.

Did I say he was a saint? I said he works for the owners and he does nothing financial without their blessing. Your outrage toward him is misplaced over lockouts fines and rule changes. He is a smug man who can rub people wrong. He is chief negotiator for owners. But he does not deserve all the heat. The best thing about it is he accepts it and that in part ticks people off.
The NFLPA finally has some competent representation with Smith so any negotiation with the players from now on is going to be them vs Goodell not vs owners.

Under Armour will pay every dollar of that.
Pretty sure Under Armour can't pay the fine. I know players can't pay another player's fine. And I'd assume to uphold the purpose of the punishment, that sponsors, teams, etc. cannot indirectly pay the fines either.
And I'd bet Goodell would lose his mind if Newton had Under Armour pay the fine.

And that's the point! They are makin money from repping them and the NFL (Goodell) is being a bitch as usual by doing crap like this. You wanna fine someone for makin extra money on the side while the got damn NFL reeks cash in from all over the place. I would take his arse the court for that, but it'll probably be a waste of time.
So Cam is going sue the NFL for fining him in accordance with his contract with the NFL?
That's going to go over awesome.
Nike has paid a huge premium, if the NFL refuses to fine, then Nike will sue the NFL.
NFL is just holding up their end of a contract. Cam is failing to hold up his.

Nike has paid a huge premium to the NFL. Do the players get any of that?? Hell no! My point is the whole NFL abolishment of players in their league not being able to endorse anyone, thus, not earning any money outside their contracts is pure bullshite. The NBA has no such arrangement and players are allowed to endorse whoever and whatever they want. You would think with all the money these greedy piece of shite owners make in the NFL being that it's the number one sport in this country. That they would be a lil more lenient with there damn bullshite rules.
so what Nike has a contract with them. What the hell does that have to with the players. Cam didn't sign one with them. You're gonna force everyone to use Nike equipment. I'm calling bullshite on that! I can understand the uniforms, but other stuff, shoes, protection equipment, etc. No way. Besides, NFL players are the least paid out of the big 3 sports. Only QB's compare. If I were an NFL player I would be tryin to get paid along other avenues myself.

Cam is a member of the NFLPA, the NFLPA signs a collective bargaining agreement with the league. So therefore, yes, Cam Newton does have a contractual obligation, and if he doesn't like it, then the players should fight it in their next CBA with NFL. So yes, Cam does have a contractual obligation that he abides by the rules set forth in the CBA, which is, when he on the field, he adheres to dress guidelines set forth by the NFL. He's welcome to go play in CFL and wear whatever he wants. N

You're allowed to have footwear contracts but not apparel or protective.
The NBA is just like the NFL, footwear but not apparel.
He was fined for not having the right protective equipment.
