LSU vs Up-Tempo Offenses... Scoreboard

Les and Chief have consistently played the percentages vs. up-tempo spread offenses. Make them run 10 great plays a drive to score on us then do that 5 times in a game to win. Most teams just can't do that against us.
So I for one am not too worried about Auburn's 2nd half yardage totals. Scoreboard. That's just how we do it and the Win % bears this out.
So THAT'S why I'm not worried about this defense AND I think we have a great showing against pro-style Georgia this week. Georgia will be physically stronger than all our opponents we have faced thus far but schematically won't be as challenging. Execution not scheme will determine this weeks winner and LSU is executing well right now.

You should worry about our defense if they have to play 80 + snaps again.

I Worry that UGA will run right through us

Beckwith is the answer. Maybe he just doesn't have enough expierience yet, but he is one of the best athletes on the team and big enough to stop girly dead in his tracks. But I think welter gets the node. He will get drug 5 yards every play. Georgia is going to run right at us. Lsu style.

I think this is why we saw the change in gameplay. Our offense has quick strike capability and can actually score to fast. I guess theoretically you would rather have the offense on the field a little longer then the defense. I think that is what les was trying to do, but I didn't work. Funny thing is, we have been able to do it for years. Now I see why he did what he did. Still no happy about it, but if they would have executed better it would be marvelous.

Georgia averaging 70-75 snaps per game.
Do your homework.
Do your homework.

I think this is a great perspective. some people were griping last year that we didn't get a sack or enough pressure on manziel. when you win, who cares?
it seemed to me that the gameplan for auburn was similar to the a&m game last year; contain. lsu funneled the running plays to the middle of the field and prevented a lot of big plays to the outside. auburn got some rushing yards but, so what?
les has definitely shown me that he has a good feel for balancing all 3 phases of the game. he understands what his team is capable of in each phase and takes the minimal amount of risk in the other phases. he does take risk but, for the most part, it seems calculated. the problem is that it's not sexy enough for the superficial fan/media/poll voters whose perspective is not always realistic.
les has won more games than anyone except for boise, all while playing in the sec and opposite satan. that's pretty stout. the man knows what he's doing.

He played a good bit, yes. I saw him a few times in the first half.

It was said on the post-game radio shows. 6-9 SEC football is gone. Don't expect to shutdown opponents like we used to. And I'll chime in we WILL see 80+ plays maybe 2 more time THIS YEAR. But that doesn't have to translate to scoreboard just like vs Auburn, Oregon 2011, and West Virginia 2011. Clemson 2012 would have been a different result had we had THIS offense.
Our defense will still be among the best, just bend your expectations re: stats and look at the scoreboard.
Re: Georgia if we have to rely heavily on LBs for that one I am most concerned. We need DTs to play huge and use edge speed getting Gurly to run East/West. Tre Mason was an explosive accelerator... Gurly isn't quite as quick to top gear... get to him turned before he gets flying.

I worry that they didn't do anything against us in the first half...auburn coaches made adjustments and we give up almost 400yds in 2nd half
