Anybody ever had one built and is able to fish in it? I want one but I don't know if they are worth the cost or time.

How big of a piece of property do you have to build on?

i've built two and still have one. make us of the terrain to keep cost down. usda-nrcs can come help you pick a site on your property for free, up to you and/or your wallet to build it.
they are really cool to have. go as big as you can afford and fit because the smaller ones are much more delicate to manage: algae blooms, low D.O., over/under harvest, etc.

Around here some farmers dig ponds for people.

9000 series 8 wheel and a 18yard bucket or two.

I'd say you're looking at somewhere in the 4 figures to dig a good sized ponds.

But I couldn't tell you more than that.
