Good Game. Great Balance on O. Improvement on D. But Penalties...

The ONLY negative that is glaring after this game has got to be the bonehead penalties. We get a little more disciplined and this team could do some real damage. Why so many flags?

I think the refs were calling a really tight game. Both teams had a ton of penalties.

yeah the refs always get the blame for calling penalties

A staple of a Les Miles team. Lack of discipline. We always rack of penalties.

Well in this game, a ton of players got playing time. Just shows a lack of playing time together.

Alabama had 2 false start penalties in a row in the red zone vs. TAMU in the first half today.

I think it was just a lack of focus. Too many penalties. The offense looked good, the defense didn't look bad overall, but neither seemed to have that killer instinct.

If anyone bothers to watch other games, penalties are everywhere, on every team. Refs have basically took control of the game. What did Bama and the Ags have 25?

So if Saban does it its OK?

Its not. I don't care to look up the numbers, but we probably rank near the top as far as most penalties per game in the SEC during Miles tenure.

I don't see the point here. Alabama did it so its ok?

Historically Les Miles coached LSU teams are one of the least penalized teams in the SEC so to say its a staple is just a lie.

We ranked #102/120 in penalties last year averaging 7.23 penalties per game at 57.92 yds per game.
We were tied with Rutgers, who averaged 60 yds per game.
Florida was the most penalized SEC team.
Interestingly enough we would have ranked around the 60s if yds per game were used instead, which to me seems more important than number of penalties. 7 offside penalties are better than 3 personal fouls, for example. I guess context could help as well...

Yet we are the winningest team in the SEC over the Miles era....but that means nothing. I get it...someone looking to bitch about something

Fewest penalties per game nationally:
2012 LSU: 97th w/ 7.0 penalties per game (13th in SEC)
2011 LSU: 71st w/ 6.2 penalties per game (9th in SEC)
2010 LSU: 65th w/ 6.0 penalties per game (9th in SEC)
2009 LSU: 80th w/ 6.6 penalties per game (9th in SEC)
2008 LSU: 72nd w/ 6.2 penalties per game (9th in SEC)
2007 LSU: 117th w/ 8.4 penalties per game (last in SEC)
2006 LSU: 89th w/ 6.4 penalties per game (11th in SEC)
2005 LSU: 44th w/ 6.0 penalties per game (5th in SEC)
average of 80th nationally and 10th in the SEC. So I fail to see where I'm wrong. As I said, Miles teams are usually undisciplined and commit a lot of penalties.

Maybe. But I wasn't just making shite up to bash LSU or Miles when I said we commit a lot of penalties. The numbers back it up. We rack up a lot of stupid false starts every game.

Refs weren't letting shite slide. More chop blocks called then I've ever seen before.
