Freshman cornerback Tre'Davious White could be moved into the starting lineup as early as Saturday's game against Kent State in place of Jalen Collins. He may eventually be joined as a starter by fellow freshman Rashard Robinson, who joined the team less than two weeks ago. Both have been impressive with their one-on-one cover skills in practice.
When that happens, starting cornerback Jalen Mills will likely move to the third cornerback spot and Collins to the bench. Micah Eugene is currently the nickel corner but he may move into the starting lineup in place of safety Ronald Martin.
Collins struggled toward the end of last season and was beaten down the sidelines for a 35-yard pass play against TCU. Mills also was beaten for a 41-yard touchdown pass by UAB's Jamarcus Nelson Saturday. Coaches are apparently unhappy with Martin's tackling.

I've never once heard anyone say anything about j Collins other than positve things and its now rumored he's getting benched.

Leave Mills where he's at and let White come in as the #2 CB with Robinson at the 3rd CB.

I'm all for this. Martin has looked really tentative out there while Eugene has been flying all over the field making plays.
Collins will probably sit, I don't see Mills losing a starting spot, though.

it was speculated quite a bit that White would take his spot sometime early in the season...

Rashard Robinson must be the truth if he can take a starting spot from a guy that was all-SEC after two weeks on campus.

Mills isn't going anywhere. White over Collins happened last night so that's no surprise. Eugene is a liability in coverage but he looks like the most sure tackler on the team.

Jtfo you do know Robinson is 164 pounds and white is under 175 this has to be the stupidest article.How do you think Robinson would fare with a 230 lb gurley running at him or a 200+ lb reciever manhandling them off the line.

While I think Martin is a damn good player and should be the starter, I think we should find a way to get Eugene on the field more.
Hes been our best defensive playmaker the 1st 2 weeks IMO. The kid makes plays. And nobody is taking his nickel spot. Hes fantastic at that.
And he wasnt the best cover guy last year, but he looks to be improved in that area of the game. Havent seen him give up anything the 1st 2 weeks.
And I understand that everyone is pumped about the freshman DBs. I am to.
But, PP only started 4 games his freshman year at LSU. And the only guys ahead of him were Eugene and Chris Hawkins. We have a lot more talented guys right now compared to then. Its really hard to become a full time starter at DB for LSU. And actually beat a vet out. Mills started last year because TM was gone.

You would have Robinson in the nickel covering the slot receiver...
