AT&T UVerse for Gaming?

I'm moving soon and want to get one of the bundled plans. I'm curious about AT&T's internet and how it affects gaming. And if anyone currently has it what speed do you have and have you ever come close to using up all the data in a month. TIA guys

If they can set up your service correctly, it works fine. I had to wait 5 weeks, send 2 reviews to the BBB, and acquire the email of one high up. on week 5 it was completed. Apparently, my apt was mislabeled and that baffled AT&T's finest.
Now in my house. I have Cox and I'm still happy.
ETA: you must be 50 y/o. You have unlimited data via your modem / router.

You'll have to deal with ports being closed/blocked. It's a big annoyance, but works once its setup.

And no you don't. Every ISP has data caps, some just don't penalize when you go over.

I wonder why they don't advertise said caps.
Interesting.
I retract my previous statement.

I used to have 18mbps U-Verse internet. It was extremely reliable. Never had a single outage for 2 and a half years. But part of that reliability was that it reliably throttled streaming video, and reliably had a higher ping. The ping issue will affect competitive online gaming. U-Verse uses an interleaved connection which gives it inherently higher ping. Lowest pinging servers were 70-80ms.
I never had an issue with data caps. They were announced when I got the service, they were never implemented for my area. Maybe they are now, but it was over a year after the date they were supposed to go into affect and still, usage monitoring wasn't even set up in my account.

Well looks like I'm gonna have to go the cable route. Can't game with a high ping.
AT&T have data packages with all of their internet packages I think. The one I was looking at was 250gb a month.

you wont notice 70-80 ms vs 40~ms. anyone who says they do is lying.
I play on yuro servers all the time with a 150-200 ping and its a little noticeable.
I wouldn't use uverse for a completely different reason: expensive as shite for the bandwidth you get.
(I can only get uverse at my apt complex, sucks)

I have it, bundled at&t Uverse TV and cable internet, I'm paying for 18mbps download but only getting 12 when I run the test, I called and talked to them and they told me its "18mbps max" so I dropped down to the 12mbps plan thinking I would still get 12 and I started only getting 9. The ping I get for a host about 20 miles away from me is in the 50ms and they don't allow over 1.5 mbps upload no matter what package you have. I noticed a big decrease in ban width also.I used to have cox, paying for 15 down and 3 Up and getting 20 Down and 4 Up with 24ms ping. Cox has much better internet but AT&T tv is worth the downgrade in internet. Overall its not too laggy, but for games like call of duty you will notice yourself getting shot around corners and small stuff like that.
and I notice the difference between my old 24ms ping and the 50ms ping I have now

I'm sure it impacts your gaming.

Because it's worst thing for ISPs to have.

Cox is super lax. You have to go 100s of GB over in consecutive months to even get a letter.

Yeah, charter doesn't really care either about the cap either...unless you're torrenting a TON. Then they'll throttle you. It hasn't happened to me but that's what I've read. I don't really torrent while lot though but I do stream gameplay which uses a lot of bandwidth. I guess what I'm saying is that charter doesn't care how much you use just as long as it is legal.

I simply cancelled my U-verse Internet and got Cox Internet. Kept U-Verse TV, so I have the best of both.
Yeah, frick U-Verse.
