Thinking about starting out with a $2.50 indian head. Sound like a solid move?

Calling Baylor for investment advice.

You don't remember Baylor? He doesn't show his face here much if ever anymore.
I have no clue how much a gold coin costs, but if you want an investment in gold then go for it.

I'm a novice on gold coins. How much gold, as in weight, is in a $2.50 coin versus a $10 coin?

Depends on the size. I don't collect gold as an investment. I buy it for the numismatic value. I just like the coin. It would be from the mid 1800s

Me too. I have no idea about the weight. I don't really care either. I just like the coin.

Go to Coinflation. Click on "Gold Values." You will see the certified Ebay sales below to give you an idea of market value/rarity.

US double eagle gold coins are based on 1 ounce of gold in a 20 dollar piece, so 1/2 ounce in a$10, 1/4ounce in a $5, etc

I love gold and silver coins. I like to roll around in mine like Scrooge McDuck when no one's around.
I really do like to play with my coins. Don't lie and say y'all don't.

My 5 dollar gold piece is set in a gold bezel and I wear it on a chain around my neck.
It is one of the gold pieces that my grandfather held back during Roosevelt's "confiscation". Of course, one cannot strictly say the gov. confiscated the gold, but my Grandpa was worried that he would not a have means to convert when he needed cash for transactions and take care of his family.
He distributed the gold pieces among his grandchildren as a reminder of the power of gov.
My gold piece looks great on a a cashmere sweater.

My bad.
In seriousness - I have bought puts on GLD recently. They didn't work out. I literally broke even on the first one, then rolled it over to a later expiration, which consequently expired at zero.
