Agreed, but not impossible. Bama beat Florida twice in 1999. Once in regular season and once in SEC Championship. It is not, however, hard to at least be competitive twice.

Debatable. Bama's only loss was in OT to the #1 team in the country in a game in which Bama never trailed for a single second of play. LSU won on the last play possible in the game. OSU lost to Iowa State. That'd be like Bama or LSU losing to Mississippi State or Vandy or Kentucky.

ESPN gave no gift. The job of the BCS is to put the #1 ranked team against the #2 ranked team. There is a coach's poll, the harris poll (former coaches), and the computer polls. ESPN doesn't sway computers. ESPN doesn't sway coaches. ESPN MIGHT sway former coaches.
