Hey guys,

I know they got some kayak fishermen on here so I figured this would be a good place to go.

I recently went on a amazing yak trip out to some rigs and caught a few really nice reds, so I'm hooked. We went out with a few buddies and did it kind ghetto, with cheap kayaks and minimal gear, but still had a blast.

I want to take my dad out on a similar trip maybe even further out, but would need to be much more organized. Leaving from grand isle or near. Could be a fully guided or just a mothership setup..

Who would be a good guide or service to call? And what good online resources do you guys have to research more?

Thanks in advance!

How "ghetto" did you go? Price & brand?

I'm getting the itch to try kayaking myself, but I don't want to drop a lot of money in case I don't like it or I physically can't (old shoulder/elbow injury).

Did you paddle from shore to the rigs? About how far was it?

Danny Wray of Calmwater Charters is the kayak guide on GI. I doubt he would help you go out to a rig though. Better have your shite together and a plan in case seas kick up.
