Mett throwing the ball away three times when play was not there instead of forcing it. No INTs

Hard to point out one thing.

Offense as a whole but Mett specifically ill say

Defense was good but we already expect that

Mettenberger: he was poised and comfortable in the pocket

Our 3rd down % was outstanding which is why we ran like 80 plays.

Playing calling and being able to move the ball with consistently

Seriously! He was a monster early on. Looked like he got gassed in the end and was making pointless spin moves even before contact with the OT.

Early on, his bull rush was impressive

Lot of positives but what was most impressive (against the backdrop of 4 years of wOe), just seeing an O that was functional.

Hon Mention: MaGee at RB. Just think - he was 6th team a year ago.

I'm willing to chalk this up to two factors:
1. It was first game mistakes and miscues.
2. TCU is a much better team than a lot of people here gave them credit for being.

What impressed me most about last night on the LSU side was the relative few 3 and outs, and the confidence Mett and the offense seemed to have during the game.

Nice to see us without the consistent 3 and out. We had 3 the entire game. One being the fumble.

Only other punt was after a 9 play drive.

Most impressive thing is that the defense doesn't have any supreme weaknesses or overt strengths; meaning we aren't relying on any one player to hold us together this season.. truly looks like a collective effort and that holds a lot of promise.

We have size, speed, depth.. and we're young. The offense will still have some growing pains but a lot more steps forward than steps backwards. The defense lost A LOT of talent and we didn't miss a beat against a bowl-bound offense

Most impressive was Miles getting a delay of game after a time out!

I think the passing game really stood out as greatly improved from last year. The running game was good but we should see that pick up as well as the season progresses. Take out their 2 junk touchdowns and it was a great win.

Proving my point again. This was a positive thread and this slapdick brings in another negative post.

3rd down conversion % ... Which led to a lot more offensive plays than we're used to seeing. Even when we didn't score a TD, the offense consistently moved the ball...very few, if any, 3-and-outs

Most impressive to me was how smooth the offense looked, especially given it was the first game of the season, new OC, etc. blah blah blah.

- We converted 3rd and 5+ yards consistently.
- Mett showed poise in pocket and was decisive with the ball
- O-Line gave him time
- WR's made catches they wouldn't have last year
- Mett has earned trust of coaching staff, playcalling reflects that.

So the most impressive overall is how cohesive we were on Offense this early in the season. I think this will be the most balanced and potent Offense since '07, especially with the return of Hill.

As a sidenote, no slight to the D either, I just expected them to play about like they did...athletic, disruptive, but with some mistakes as they are young and relatively inexperienced.

No options run to the short side of the field. Pass protection was very very good. Perhaps Mimes is finally hands off

Mett threw the ball crisply, accurately, and confidently. And the receivers caught the balls that hit them in the hands.

80 plays. We did it without hurry up. Just sustained drives.

I was actually confident last night that we would convert on third down regardless of the yardage. Can't remember the last time I felt that way

This - Mett looked like he'll be playing on Sundays someday. Obviously much off season hard work with OBJ and Landry.
