If none of y'all think sponsors and the sec office had a big part to play in this charade, y'all are sadly mistaken. How many advertising dollars do you think has already been spent on the bama-a&m game? Without one of the main participants, there would be significantly less eye balls.

I bet Ohio St isn't very impressed by this ruling.

Personally I think the NCAA is total hypocrisy.
I could care less if JFF sold autographs or not.

Completely agree.

It's nonsense.

The media was all up in arms that JFF sold autographs and might be suspended! Maybe even kicked off the team!

OH NO!

I have to ask the question:

If he's suspended, he made some sort of infraction, no?

Everyone knows what that infraction is related to.

But he's a Heisman winner, (IMO should be held to a bit higher standard than he has recently been doing) so we'll overlook that.

It's stupid. Why suspend the dude at all? 30 min of a game vs. Rice? Dumb.

It'll just inflate his already inflated ego and he'll derail more than he already has.

The NCAA screwed up on this.

could not agree more. Some random organization that has inserted itself into college athletics. The NCAA has no authority except what is given to them by universities.

Humm. AJ Green, shep, Dez Bryant. It looks like to me that Black players are being treated much more harshly than the white players. How the hell does the NCAA think it is the US court system.

I'm surprised he was given any suspension at all, with no proof that he received money. We all know that he did. But still, no proof. The NCAA would have had to get a fake undercover "broker" to conduct a transaction to prove something like that.

Why would he sit there and sign picture after picture and not once think about getting money for it? It's almost an insult to everybody's intelligence to try to get us to be on board with that idea.

Even my 12 year old gets it.

He said to me that it sounded like Happy Gilmore, when they wanted to kick Happy off the PGA Tour but they wouldn't do it BECAUSE HAPPY WAS MAKING THE TOUR SO MUCH MONEY.

The suspension has nothing to do with getting paid. He is being suspended because, per the book, student athletes are supposed to take the necessary steps to avoid their signature or likeness are sold. He obviously did not do that by going into a hotel room to sign hundreds of items for a broker. This is considered a minor violation and thus the punishment is minimum.

It's all BS in the end, but let's not confuse the infractions here.

it has to do with PROOF.

AJ Green admitted it.
Dez Bryant lied and got caught.

Everyone knows Manziel did it, but without proof they can't nail him.

+1 At least we get to watch the revenge of Bama.

Until the NCAA steps in on all situations(including those who get arrested or break laws)and it doesn't matter who the player is,big star or an unknown, the coaches/schools are going to do what they want as far as dealing out punishment,we really have no say so.I don't know if anyone has noticed but over the past 8-10 years the rate of NCAA athletes getting in trouble with the law (and otherwise) has increased (you would have to be blind to not notice)Why even worry about something we have zero control over? Seems the current popular attitude is win at all cost,do what we need to do to get that W or keep winning, nothing else matters.

this. this. this.

i don't give two shits about dez, but he lost all of his eligibility because he lied about a legal meal he had with deion sanders. if manziel is only suspended for half a game for selling autographs, then i think dez and every other football player who lost more eligibility than manziel for lesser infractions should sue the NCAA. i don't know what, exactly, they should sue for, but i would want some sort of vindication if i were them.

He'll get this short suspension and once he leaves the NCAA will look into it more and take away scholarships from TAM. how it always works. I dont really care its just a really messed up system the NCAA has right now.But half a game suspension is just a joke.
