Oregon State should have won the season opener in 2004 with a better kicker. Anything can happen Saturday.

But they didn't have a better kicker so they shouldn't have won.

there would still be a whole lot to play for.

1) The SEC Title isn't in jeopardy with a L to TCU in any way, shape, or form.
2) 1 loss in week 1 wouldn't take us out of the title hunt. If we go undefeated in the SEC I'd assume we jump into the top 2 at the end of the year.

A loss to TCU would not knock us out of those goals by itself, but it would mean that we are nowhere near good enough to accomplish those goals.

Also, you're not quite right about the "any way, shape or form". A loss to TCU could affect the SEC West race because it would affect our BCS ranking, and that is a tiebreaker in case of a more than 2-way tie when other tiebreakers don't resolve it.

However, if LSU couldn't beat TCU then I don't think we could run the table in the SEC after that. It would put a big black cloud over the players and fans for the remainder of the season.

100% correct.

My prediction though... LSU 38 TCU- 17

Mine's pretty close to that, too. LSU 41, TCU 14

You've got to allow for the possibilty that a good football team, TCU (with more experience) beat another good football team, LSU (with less experience).

You're correct, but you need to spend a little more time around the rant.

This place would explode even if LSU lost to a pro team. Many of the fans are just not grounded enough to see that sometimes the Tigers just get beat.

A loss to TCU would shut the Tigerdroppings website down. We would have at least two threads about firing Les Miles. Another thread would be talking about Miles' buyout clause. There would be at least two threads about getting Nick Saban back to Baton Rouge.

Countless posters would be banned only to resurface three days later as alters of a different kind (adk) . The website would come back to normalcy after posters had had their fill of booze and sedatives and sex.

The sun would rise Sunday morning and we would all start talking about next season !

Not at all - TCU could turn into a monster - it doesn't affect our chances in the SEC in the slightest - if we run the table after that and win the SEC-CG, there is no doubt we play for it all.

Having said that - I HATE losing the opener. The only thing I hate worse than that is losing the last game of the season.

How devastating would a L be Saturday???
It would be like UGA losing to Boise except a little worse. Boise was much better than this bunch we are playing this weekend.

From your lips (via keyboard) to your team and coaching staff. I really hope they believe this, too.
