My grandfather always told me it was fixed. He didn't have any inside info, just his feeling. Told me he knew she would be to let win befor the match even happened.

Yeah. Whatever. I'm tired

I believe it was fixed. Riggs spanked Court. The guy that came forward had really no motive other than finally revealing his story. Even Riggs son said he hung out with mobsters. There was a lot of money to be made from him pulling off this scam.

Watched it yesterday.... really interesting. I definitely believe it was fixed after watching that.

How about the part about Riggs going to work at the Tropicana in the accounting office and a month later "the skim" happens..

Watching it right now, man it's even more apparent Billy Jean King is getting nervous that it was fixed. Sitting there saying she saw it in his eyes he wanted to win and that she knew it was for real. Would be funny if her career accomplishment was a throw by the mafia lol.

Anywhere I can see this online? Or will they show it again?

I agree. She doesn't want to believe it was fixed. She seemed exasperated when she said "Bobby didn't associate with the mob, that's not Bobby". And then dude was like 'Yeah, yeah he did".

I kinda feel bad for BJK. She's thought for 40 years that she won it fair and square and now she's wondering if she really did.

40 year old Connors beat Martina Navratilova in straight sets in 1992.
Connors was allowed only one serve per point, and Navratilova was allowed to hit into half the doubles court.
Hmm, wonder why? Perhaps he knew a woman couldn't match up against an old guy even with the handicapped rules?

Tennis Hall of Famer Jimmy Connors says he had a serious gambling problem that included betting $1 million on himself in the 1992 Battle of the Sexes match against Martina Navratilova.
In his new autobiography The Outsider, Connors says he bet that he would beat Navratilova in straight sets without losing more than eight games. He had to do it getting only one serve, with Navratilova using half the doubles alley. Those were the Battle of the Sexes rules.
Connors lost three of the first four games before winning 7-5, 6-2 to win the bet.
“Betting on myself was the ultimate gambler's high,” he wrote. “I was out of control and I didn't realize it, though that bet should have been a big-assed hint.”
Bobby Riggs, who was watching the match in Las Vegas and who had played a Battle of the Sexes match against Billie Jean King in 1973, also wagered big money on Connors. When it was 3-1 Navratilova, Riggs appeared to be having a heart attack, according to Tennis.com.

I have no idea why Martina agreed to play that match. Jimmy was 40, but she was 36. If she thought she had any chance of winning, then was delusional.
I'm actually surprised the first set was as close as it was. Jimmy must have been nervous because he had a boatload of money on the match.

This was definitely fixed

I never thought of it as a thrown match, but it was obvious that Riggs wasn't trying as hard as BJK. He just wasnt taking it very seriously, like any of us wouldn't if playing against a girl. The fact that this is used as some women's movement landmark event is a joke in itself. Especially when he was like 50+ years old, and whe was not far from her prime.
