Well, The Cabin in the Woods had a 92% on RT and that movie was a steaming pile of shite in a basket made of burning hair, so I find these critiques claiming recent horror films to be great a bit dubious.
But see, Cabin in the Woods wasn't made for you. It was a fantastic film, one of the best of the year for me. But clearly your attitude toward horror kind of obscured how you view that film. There was nothing about the film that was bad. Not even the ending (which some people who enjoyed the film had a problem with).
Exactly. Cabin in the Woods appealed to horror fans and, at the risk of sounding pretentious, only horror fans would likely understand what the movie was saying. I can totally understand how non-horror fans could watch and be like, "WTF this is stupid."
