Disputing credit card charge

I have a situation where a company didn't provide the service they were supposed to and actually weren't supposed to charge my card but still did. What will happen when i file a dispute on this charge? I'm assuming they will investigate it but how long does it usually take? What i'm worried about is that the company they will investigate it with is so big that they may get the run around like I have and I will be stuck with the charge.

It didn't take too terribly long when I did it once with a large company.
I'm doing another dispute right now with a foreign hotel so we will see how that goes.

My last dispute I got the money back instantly and the company had like 2-4 weeks to challenge that reversal

what credit card? In my experience, Chase or AMEX and you will get your money back instantly. not sure about other cards. also, bigger companies are usually easier to dispute.

so this is why I always use credit card over debit cards. The process is much easier. And for companies like AMEX it literally takes 3 minutes and you'll have money by the end of the day.

The one I used was a VISA. I got lucky however and the company I had the issue finally responded to one of my many emails after about a week and they are going to refund the money with no issues.

I've been on a roll disputing charges since I got back from vacation.
I'll also probably never use Expedia again since they are worthless to help you.

I've been lucky and never had to dispute... Although, I may have to dispute a charge with Paypal in the very near future.
