This is airing on LPB right now as part of their fundraising process.
It aired in the U.S. originally in April, 1973.
I was 5. I remember watching this.
Who else watched this when it first aired?

No me.
I have seen clips. He was still money on unchained melody although it was sad seeing people almost having to prop him up.

He was actually in pretty good shape for this show.

My mistake. That isn't the concert I was thinking of.

I wasn't old enough but my Mom is a huge, huge Elvis fan. I've probably seen it 100 times and listened to the LP several more times than that.
As much as I complained about it when I was younger, I find myself gravitating to Elvis movie marathons every now and again.

Haven't see this but Blue Hawaii is one of my favorite Elvis movies

He killed it on Bridge over troubled water

This is by far my favorite concert ever. I don't even know how many times I've seen it. He absolutely kills it. I love You gave me a Mountain and My Way. Amazing.
ETA: I wasn't born til '83, so I unfortunately missed out on it live.

My mom saw him on the Louisiana Hayride when she was a girl. She wasn't impressed-thought he looked like a hoodlum

When my Mom had her purse stolen awhile back she was genuinely less upset about the money, her ID, and what not then she was about her Elvis ticket stub.

Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii was incredible. I saw it when it was originally aired. I own it on DVD. It made a real impression on me as a kid. I have always been a fan of "The King". Been to Graceland 2 times. His voice was so smooth.
I would have to say that the 1968 Comeback Special was Elvis at the top of his game. But the Hawaii concert he was still in very good shape and sounded pristine.
At the very end it was really sad what became of him as the years of abuse finally caught up with him. But please understand that he was not being "propped up" in the Hawaii concert. It was the 4 years after this concert that he went downhill fast and ultimately died.
The Legacy lives. He will always be THE KING!!
