Without having a solid defense, the Pelicans will end up around the 40 win mark. That is good compared to what we have been doing but that is not where we should be. (The early 80's Nuggets once averaged 125 PPG but had the worse offense in the NBA. They finished 46-36 and went home after the first round of the playoffs)

This team will not work without a big man that can grab 10-12 boards a game and cause the paint to become a pool of lava for any player willing to enter.

Bringing in Oden to play along side AD will be the X-Factor the Pelicans need to jump into the next level but not this season. It will take more than one to win a title, ask the Heat.

Oden will, if he can play 55-60 games, be the reason we win a lot of those. With all the shooters we will have on the court, Oden can play defense and get offensive boards like Ben Wallace in Detroit. He doesn't have to score and there will be ZERO pressure to become a league MVP.

My numbers might be a little high but I am basing them off of history. We can win 50 games this season, maybe more, but we need to nab a big man like Oden or we could end up struggling early on.

If we don't land Oden, the next thing we should do is trade EG10 for a big man like Andrew Bogut or Omer Asik. Or something to that affect. (The Untouchables for trade bait on this team should be Jrue, Evans, AD, and Ryno. So a trade for any player should not involve them at all.)

Cut this in half, and it would sound more realistic.

WUT?

Oh, and if you pin your hopes of Oden to win, you aren't going very far. He will probably not even play until December and even then in limited minutes.

Sometimes I really do think you've got a higher chromosome count than IQ.

I doubt he ever plays that many NBA games for the rest of his career.

The pressure on him will be to have a mediocre career at this point. No one besides Student thinks he will be an MVP.

Because Oden will not have any struggles early on??? Dude hasn't played a game since 2010. He may be rusty.
