Does your nanny speak English, or are you Italian? 
And $1200/mo is about half my mortgage. But we are definitely house snobs. And this area is expensive but we get private school education at a public school price, so it evens out in the wash.

I live in Shreveport, so a $1200 mortgage gets us 2400 sq ft in an awesome neighborhood. I'm aware housing costs are not as cheap everywhere else.
And our daughter is only 10 weeks, the public school district we are in is good for Louisiana standards, but we are still looking at possibly putting her private school, which will definitely cut back on the savings a bit
