Your wrist must feel like it's about to fall off after you shoot the Delta for a while. A cup-and-saucer is terrible for something with pronounced recoil like the 10mm wallup.
Honestly, no. I'm a big guy with big hands(but short, stubby fingers) and have been using my hands all my life for work. I've put 200 rounds through my Delta in a range session with no effects on my wrists...
Now, my 44 Mag Super Blackhawk? That's another story! I'm glad to have 13" of barrel/recoil-supressor hanging off the front of that beast. Even with that, shooting 50 rounds through it leaves my wrist sore.

I would try to change eventually.
And I'm going to agree with someone else in this thread. No matter what is the current accepted method, if you find something that works better and is more comfortable for you, then use it. Who cares what someone else thinks of your grip/stance? They aren't the one shooting, are they?

Touche'.
I guess I just feel it would benefit you. There's a reason they teach it a certain way.
But if it's already engrained in your head, do what feels natural.
