TCU run defense

I was doing research on TCU's run defense and discovered the last time TCU lost a game when giving up 150 rushing yards or more was in 2007 when they lost to Wyoming. This means that TCU gets beat by teams that throw the ball. Say what you want about TCU's level of competition during that span but they have fared well in run defense against some good running teams like Oklahoma in 2008 with DeMarco Murray, Clemson in 2009 with CJ Spiller, and Wisconsin in 2010.
With that being said, do you think if it comes to it, LSU will be able to win this game by throwing the ball, or do you think LSU's run game will be able to do enough get the job done and not have to rely on the passing game?
Not sure if I am confident enough in LSU passing game to win the game if needed, especially in Game 1 with a new scheme.

how well have they faired against top tier SEC teams...then come talk to us
SEC football is a different type of football...hence why the SEC has won the last well you know

Gotta look at who they play. Big 12 pass offenses that dont have our quality RBs

Any team can get up for a single game and play above their perceived limits.
Just look at Boise State/Georgia in 2011. Or LSU/Clemson 7 months ago...

Chucky was always great at getting penetration. Hopefully LSU can keep him from disrupting the inside too much.

Clemson didn't play up to LSU, LSU played down to Clemson

That "stat" is misleading. They are giving up a ton of rushing yards.
It just tells me that TCU is simply better at out scoring their opponent, but not necessarily having a great run D.

Which is why I am worried TCU will cheat toward the run and force LSU to beat them with the passing game. Kind of like how TCU won the Rose Bowl by stacking the box and forcing Wisconsin to throw the ball.
The mystery surrounding how our passing game will look worries me, especially in Game 1. If this were Game 4 or 5, or Week 2 and LSU warmed up in Week 1 with an FCS school I wouldn't be as worried.

I actually heard the stat on the radio and looked at TCU's past schedules to see what running offenses they faced in that span.

Yea, both of those scenarios involved a bigger team that was disappointed to be there along with a smaller/less talented program that was ecstatic to be there. One had to win the game with a field goal with no time left, and the other one had to execute a slew of improbable trick plays to have a chance. This is the first game of the season and LSU will finally be able to hit someone other than themselves in practice. Both teams will be hungry. But yea, any team can get up for a single game.

I don't think it matters that much what LSU's offense does. It matters a lot more how LSU's defense plays. When TCU plays a real defense, they lose. Hold them to under 20 points and it's a guaranteed victory.

Yea youre right, I was thinking Oklahoma game. I think they had two talented WR's that game and a pretty good QB as well (UGA game). I still cant believe they beat Georgia.

unless someone is paying you for this "research" you were actually browsing at information on TCU's run defense.

Top DE will be out for TCU, I think LSU will have some success running the football. In the redzone get ready for the Anthony Jennings package.

Don't be a douche. Leave that shite on the OT.
Valid points but they won't be able to score on this defense like they normally can. We control the tempo. Pound the rock. Throw a little. We win. Our running game is effective bc we beat the shite out of a defense by power formations and fresh backs. There is nobody in their league that has a stable of backs that we have. We don't run around defenders. We run over them until they can't handle much more.
