Hate to disappoint the OP but if you ask 50 1911 guys you will get 25 different answers and none of them are wrong.

This is so true. Some will say Colt because they've been doing it since the beginning (doesn't mean shite imho). You'll get others to say Volkmann, Wilson Combat, Les Baer, Ed Brown, Nighthawk or John Jardine.

A Springfield won the FBI contract. No one cares more about how pretty a gun is than a 1911 fanatic.

I am also part of team S&W for the 1911 but the Ruger SR1911 is a hell of a bargain in both full size and commander size. I wish my damn photobucket would let me post my Smith. When did they start this limited bandwidth BS?

I'll be able to post it in a day. Sit tight and it will make you want one.

You do realize that government contracts typically go to the lowest bidder. If not the lowest bidder then the lowest and most responsible bidder. What this means is that the bidder has the capability to actually deliver what is in the Request for Purchase in the Contract. The fact that the FBI awarded a contract to SA doesn't mean that SA is better it just means that SA was likely the lowest bidder/most responsible bidder.
