Isn't the meeting today after he works out for the hawks?
Posted on 7/25/13 at 2:47 pm to WhoDatPelican596
Yes. Been very quiet.

Good. Hopefully we do more for him than take him out to eat and show him pictures of championship trophies

Remember that a lot of these pro athlete come from poor backgrounds and think of Chilis as a nice restaurant. You don't go all fine dining just because you have a lot of money. I remember one of Malcom Jenkins early tweets as a Saint was talking about how good Raising Canes was. He goes from Ohio to New Orleans and Raising Canes is the Louisiana Delicacy that he discovers

Yeah, even with a poor upbringing(that's if Oden does have one), I'm sure these guys know the difference between Chilli's and say a Commander's Palace. Jenkins' fast food of choice is different than a team trying to convince a player to sign with a team.

Maybe it was right next to their facility and they slipped in for a quick lunch. Maybe Oden really likes their southwest egg rolls. If you really think him eating at a Chilis in Miami is somehow going to affect where he plays, I've got a couple bridges and some ocean front property. You can have them all cheap.

While that all sounds reasonable, how does Pat Reilly let something like this happen unless Oden suggested Chile's? Maybe Spoelstra was buying and only gets a $50 per diem?

@ESPNSteinLine: In addition to Hawks, I'm told Spurs and Pelicans also have representatives at Greg Oden's latest workout audition in Indianapolis

@ESPNSteinLine: Hawks were always scheduled to take first-hand look at Oden today in Indy; San Antonio and New Orleans decided to join them

We have been the most active team involved in all this. I just don't believe we are going to let him sign anywhere else.
It may mean overpaying for him, but I think Dell is going to get him one way or another.

I think of chilis as a nice restaurant. Wasn't bagging on chilis guys!

I thought SAS was finally gone during all of this

Vegas thing died a while ago. We are going to Indianapolis to meet him
Posted on 7/25/13 at 3:27 pm to Jester
Well of course that's not what I think, but of course that's what you're going to tell me what I think.

Maybe he does like Chili's, but I was responding to the "athletes with poor upbringing may view Chili's as a nice restaurant" comment, nothing more. Even that is his favorite restaurant, I'm sure a millionaire athlete doesn't view it as a "nice" restaurant.

Did it? Last I've heard or read before Stein's latest comment was that he was meeting us in Vegas. By Stein explaining that the "Pelican decided to join the Hawks", it seems as this is new info.
Posted on 7/25/13 at 3:37 pm to mm2316
Nope. I asked about the ATL thing because it was reported a couple days ago. And a week or two ago, it was reported that our planned meeting was postponed because he was going to Indiana
