It sounds like all the teams involved except maybe San Antonio have been maintaining a fairly high level of constant contact with him. I doubt Oden feels ignored or abandoned by anyone.

The Heat sent their head coach and we sent "representatives"? I'd notice that if I was Greg.

ESPN said we will hold a private meeting with Oden at the end of the week. Not a big deal Monty wasn't there yesterday.

That is what jumped out to me over everything else. We get the last meeting and it's private. To me, that says we are the favorites and he's seeing what everyone else has to offer first. Not sure why that little detail is being ignored so much by the national media.

It could also be a courtesy from Oden, since he and Monty have an established relationship already. Maybe it's an "at least give us last shot to impress you" kinda thing. Hope you are right though

Plot Twist: From video of an interview with Marc Spears of Yahoo:

quote:

I talked to one scout that was there and I'm not convinced that it was a glowing performance because the guy said you know, "I wish him the best" [chuckles] and I kept pushing on how the workout was and he didn't really divulge anything.

LINK

He also said that Grizzlies guard Mike Conley, former HS teammate of Oden, says he's progressing but hasn't played 5 on 5 yet and won't play 5 on 5 until August. Although Conley does think Oden can make an immediate impact next season based on workouts they've done together.

Now I think we see why Oden's agent is working overtime to manufacture leverage. Damaged Goods, Pelicans Lock

Unless there's some sort of clause about non guaranteed money, I'm feeling reallyyyy shaky about this.

It sounds like he's nowhere near playing shape.

Yeah, not cleared for 5 on 5 until August? His latest surgery was in February of 2012.

Didn't Howard give the Lakers that same courtesy?

That lines up with right about the time he will have signed a contract.

Still don't care. We knew he was a project. I want to let him recover here. I'm not the crazy oden fanatic who's overly positive like some people probably think I am. He said he wants to "try" it again. That's it. And I'm fine with spending NBA pocket change on him to do that.

Of course you're fine with spending imaginary money on Oden. I really wonder what the workout was since it seems he really can't do too much. That tells me right there to low-ball him or offer some kind of partial contract.

What gives you that idea? Oh wait, maybe since he hasn't played since 09'?

Offer this dude a 1 yr contract. If he don't like it, we'll stick with the white dudes.

No harm in offering 2 years. It literally changes nothing except Benson's pocket.
