Looking for a place that will not be very busy so I can work on my game at a course instead of a driving range

Go down to the Abbeville Country Club. Never a lot of people compared to the Lafayette courses and it's not in bad shape.

Muni. Lots of beginners there. It's not a very open course, it's not kept up well, the greens are awful, and TBH, the course doesn't make much sense... on the back 9 you can try your best to hit over the net onto Mudd Street. My favorite holes on the course.

Another question is how do they handle people who take several shots in a row as long as you are not holding people up? For example taking a couple chip shots around each green.

Muni is usually just some old black dudes. Let them play through and no one will give you shite

If you aren't holding up anyone, then no course will care if you take a few shots on each hole.

You need to come play broseph. I play 3 times a week. Vieux Chenes/ wetlands

Don't know what you do to be able to play 3 times a week but damn that impressive

Vieux chene is harder than muni. Vieux and the wetland are my favorite though.

I see it hasn't changed much since I played a little there as a kid on Mondays in the 1970s. The grass was the same as I had in my backyard. But I kind of liked the place. Had some sort of diagonal holes as I recall. And a hole with a complete right angle.

Pretty much any course during the middle of a weekday will have pretty light traffic this time of the year. (Lightweights are scared of the heat) DO NOT plan on "working on your game" during morning or later afternoon times on a weekend....If you do, plan on wearing a batting helmet.

Depending on whats easier for you as commuting either Muni or the Wetlands. I'd personally stay away from Vieux unless you have 6 hours to burn on weekends or get off early and go sneak in there. I don't even try on Friday afternoons or the weekends. I'll go to the Wetlands but it's becoming packed there as well. Muni would be a great place to start as a beginner. If you live close to Hwy 182 go down to Spanish Trail as well it's very tight, not long and usually not packed. Squirrel run in New Iberia has 27 holes and the greens are shitty right now so it's $40 on the weekend.
