Rice fields in NE Ark or NW Miss...

Had a guy tell me today they had too much rain in NW Miss to have many rice fields this year. I think he's throwing me a line. What say the OB?

I've never heard of any that far north

They'll be saying they're waiting on rain to flood your fields come hunting season. Avoid Grubbs, I got trapped in that shite last season and we're still in a legal battle

Several "leasing agents" around Sledge and Crowder are getting bad names because of those type stunts. I leased from this same guy three years ago. Said his best performing fields last year were in beans.

Rice should be up and starting to form a head in the stalk by now. Too much rain to plant would have been in April and they would have just planted late. Worst case scenario is they absolutely couldn't plant rice and had to fall back and plant a late schedule soybean. If that were the case the price of rice would be booming and it is not.
I don't doubt the statement about a bean field out performing a rice field. There are many factors that go into this but the biggest one is the modern day combines. If the machine is set right it can pull enough rice out of the field to starve a blackbird to death.

This was a hell of a lot more than just that, all I'm saying is do not get into a place unless you know someone personally

Pretty sure I know who you're referring to. This the same guy that leased fields to groups and day hunted those same fields when the original leasers weren't going to be there?

That was our field and a guy from AL who leased next to us.

Think it may have happened to a couple of other groups too. Was the guy from AL named Galloway? If so, he's a good friend of mine.

My buddy was the only one who spoke to him, said he was a lawyer and cool guy. That's all I got

Dude is full of shite for two reasons:
1. Rice grows in water and they can drain a field just as easily as they flood one.
2. We haven't had anywhere near as much rain as y'all have. We are over the average for the year but just barely.

Ive done damage over flooded cotton fields. Im sure ducks will hammer soybeans better than rice if conditions right

There is a lot of pretty rice around Tunica down through Clarksdale. I don't think there are too many problems around there.

This. Hell, in Clarendon they have flown rice in when too wet.

In the last 3-4 weeks I've driven over to Heber Springs, AR on HWY 64. It cuts right through some of the most fertile land in AR and there are field after field over there that the rice looks great in. As a matter of fact the rice looks better than any of the other crops.

Sounds fishy. Guy may have gotten a better offer. Also thanks guys for letting us know about bogus or shady operations. This is a service to your fellow sportsmen. I enjoy traveling around to hunt different areas. It's very easy to get buffaloed like this.
