hollywood gave sharks a bad image

they are not all savage killers. if a shark ever attacks a human its either: 1) an accident from mistaken identity, or 2) they were provoked

case in point.... since the inception of the SEAL teams in the early 60s. No SEALs on training or combat missions have been bitten. Only two SEALs that I am aware of that have been attacked/bitten by sharks...were both on vacation....

and nobody spends the amount of time like they do in shark infested waters(surf zone and coastal harbors).... and... a lot of that at night/dawn/dusk - the worst times to be in the water...

if you have ever flown low level over coastal areas.... you see way more sharks than you want to..

if you think about it... though 12 folks swimming steathily ashore doesn't look like a meal..

but 400 splashing in the surf and pushing bait further out.. .flashing glimpses of fish belly white skin.... could entice and impulse strike....

a marine environment is not a swimming pool or bath tub...

snakebites are another thing..... I am aware of a few of those...

The sharks on the Atlantic side like the taste of people more than the gulf ones. THANK GOD!
