Posted by BossierTigerFan24 Harris- OHio St- don't have to play in the SEC. Still good venues and the system fits him.

Wow, I must've misunderstood the HC when he was telling me, "you need a College that is going to protect you, son, let you get bigger and stronger before you're thrown out on the field..." LOL!

I have a conversation with CLM, tell him "I'm in!" assuming the system fits my skills, but tell him I'm going to enjoy my process and try and flip some people in the process.
My officials:
USC W
ASU
UGA
TENN
BAMA
Visit on my own dime:
USC E
UF
FSU
I'd have great exposure to lots of great recruits and beautiful women.

He wasn't by any chance eating LAMB chops when he told that to you. Interesting story!

That's the concerns that Speedy has. If it were my son I would evaluate my options and see if my son fits in that system, and if not it wouldn't be any lost feelings if my son goes somewhere else because at the end of the day I will rep my son anywhere he goes, so with that said we all have to see if the Offense changes with Cam this season

Oh, it will change for sure! I'm just hoping the team executes well. If they do, we will sick

The playcalling gets some justifiable criticism...my "favorite" is the behind the LOS quick pass to the WRers that work for everybody else when they do it but lucky to get to the LOS for LSU. I can't see any execution flaw myself but something is askew. My GUESS is that something the way LSU lines up TIPS OFF that play! But to be a little fair to Studrawa, it wasn't him that overthrew the last 20 long passes in a row to wide open WRers. Remember the one to Boone in the Clemson game and the literally 5 TDs left on the table in the A&M game?
LSU needed not only to recruit a better OC in Cameron but also needs a QB who can complete long passes and not overthrow them all. Hopefully, Jennings/Rettig/Harris? can accurately throw those because I swear, Mettenberger can't hit the long ball to save this life...every single one of them overthrown.

Russell Shepard, and wonder what if he goes to Oregon instead. Would it have worked out better for him? And Terelle Pryor was a beast at OSU, but lets say he goes to Michigan with Rich Rods system instead.
How many Chip Kelly or Rich Rodriguez coached QB's are playing in the NFL? One?
How many of those QB's got to play in a BCS Championship Game? Zero
What position would Shep play in the NFL if he had played QB for either? WR
Would Russell Shepard have been better prepared for playing WR in the NFL by playing QB for Chip Kelly or Rich Rodriguez than he is playing WR for LSU?

I think all those guys fit what LSU runs, except maybe speedy. We haven't utilized his type very well.
who have we had that had Noils skillsets? drawing a blank.
as to the op....we play big-boy football in a big-boy conference and any kid with high three to five star ability is a fit for LSU. IMO, Shep was more adversely effected by the system he played here in cy-fair than the one he chose to play at LSU. he might have been better served by Kelly's up-tempo system but the reality is that he would have had plenty of comp up there and frankly, the kid never gained any appreciable football weight and seemingly plateaued during his sophmore year. who the frick knows? still love the young man and I'm sure he will have a successful life.

I'm not an expert on Noil, having only seen his highlights. As a threat on the field, I would say Kevin Faulk...has that same shiftiness, ability to change direction, speed, etc. Noil looks faster of course but then Faulk was considerably bigger and more powerful. Both look like the type you would want to hand off to, throw a pass to, or even have them throw a pass occasionally as an option.

Any recruit should weigh all his options in order of importance to his particular situation. Whether its education curriculums, football system, chance to win championships, playing time, near friends and relatives, etc. But if he can really play and keeps his resume' clean , he will be a high draft pick at almost any division 1 school. So going to a school thinking it will benefit your draft status is probably not wise, unless they have a coach that is a tremendous development of talent at your particular position. And if thats the case be prepared to wait your turn. What a kid did in college is only a piece of the puzzle for the NFL guys. Interviews, psychological tests, combine performances etc is just as important or more many times. These guys trust their own eyes and intuition.
Shepard wouldnt have done squat at Oregon, he couldnt see the field here. How would he have beaten anyone out at Oregon. Seastrunk was on the bench and he can actually play. Shepard just wasnt a good enough talent to play for the big boys. And it was proven by not being drafted at all. 7 rounds X 32 teams? Was everyone at LSU and the NFL wrong about this kid or was it, he was overrated coming out of high school?

LF would be a loss. The table has been cleared for him. I heard LF say this in an interview. He is aware how badly LSU wants him. There is nobody else like him available either.

Russell Shepard apparently is a great and entertaining guy but simply not a great football player. He had one asset...speed. He never displayed versatility as far as shiftiness, discipline running pass patterns, strength to break ANY tackles, and IMO not a student of the game. How many times did he line up in the wrong place in formations? Answer...a lot! I didn't see anyone else doing that. The services just missed horribly on the guy...that is NOT on him! He didn't rank himself...the services did. But LSU and the NFL were right. Hell, there were LSU fans his SR season still saying that Miles and the offensive coaches were buffoons who didn't know how to use him properly. Actually, LSU did...that is why his playing time was spotty!

Spot on P&G
USC worked out poorly for Sanchez and Barkley and Leinhart. They made the NFL (assumption for Barkley) but as I remember, all 3 tumbled in the draft like one of those balls you put in your dryer to avoid static cling.
---------------------------------------------------
In fact, its been quite a while since any high profile offensive player coming out of USCw lived up to their expectations at the next level.
