i dont know if anyone here remembers jonathan bender or not, he played at picayune high school from around 96-99. I played against him a couple times during the span and he was on a TOTAL different level than anyone i had ever seen in person. He was 6'11 and could shoot lights out from anywhere on the court. He broke michael jordans mcdonalds high school all american game scoring record and went straight to the nba out of high school as the 6th pick to the pacers. There he had major knee injuries and never panned out, well today i see he is doing dam well for himself, good to see.

Yeah I saw that article today and I'm still putting something together that I'm hoping to post on here over the weekend about past NBA players that didn't live up to their potential for one reason or another.

Bender was easily one of my favorite players growing up. Still holds that McDonald's record too. I think he could have become a great one if it wasn't for the knees. A 7-footer that had his shooting ability and athleticism would have been a nightmare

He destroyed me in a tournament we played in Mississippi. I think he put up around 40 when I had to try and guard him.

definitely, he was a durant before there was durant. Just had the injury bug. Very glad to see he didnt turn into some pos trash like alot do. He used the money he made for an investment and its looking to pay off

Good for him. I definitely remember him participating in the dunk contest and thought he'd be a pretty good player. I believe he started a non-profit in New Orleans to benefit kids after Katrina as well.

know the feeling, he torched us every time we played them. And i got caught on a fast break with him cocking one back for hammer time . But he never was a dick, or douche.. always laid back and quiet type. And especially at the high school level for me i was just frickn amazed at how he would pull up a 3 from 3-4 ft behing 3 pt line at any time and drain it! a 6'11 guy doing that was just ridiculous.

I remember watching him in highschool when I was a kid. Was going to watch my brother play in a tourney at Biloxi high. Bender was there killing it. Also Ronald Dupree was playing for Biloxi, he entered the gym decked out in LSU gear.

I see what you did wrong. You should have tried to guard him.
