Sounds like a great guy to add. Looks like he also played 17 games with dallas and didn't play great

lol.
and why is that?
...not a bad question. He was at his best his first few seasons...hasn't been as good since.

Demps is collecting assets/roster pieces. If this is a threat to anyone it's Brian Roberts, not Gordon. Unless Demps had a good trade lined up for Gordon it seems like seeing what happens with this loaded back court is the way to go. The need for a true center may not be as pressing as many of us think.

Miami was exposed for their height issues. Will they be able to address that in any meaningful way besides Oden?
Steve Kyler
Exposed? You mean before or after they won their second championship?
I had a GM tell me this in Orlando yesterday… the NBA has changed, you do not need a center any more.
Miami will have to improve, but in all honesty they have no means to really add anything and they are not looking at trades.

Talked to a Hawks source. He said it was simply a numbers game with Morrow last year. Korver was better, Jenkins was younger. But he said
quote:
That Morrow handles tough situation with class and never complained. Was easily the 2nd best shooter on the team & was liked in locker room
good stuff....His shot is pretty.
From a few years ago:
quote:
Morrow made jumpers in every way possible: coming off screens, firing in transition, spotting up off a double team, or pulling up off one or two dribbles. The result was the same every time, as his pure, effortless stroke never alters regardless of the amount of attention the defense gives him—allowing him to make 50% of his 3’s here, despite hoisting up a number of very questionable attempts.
Besides his incredible shooting ability, there isn’t a great deal to speak of about Morrow’s game. His ball-handling skills are poor, meaning he rarely if ever gets to the free throw line.
He’s actually an extremely intelligent player who understands his limitations quite well and knows how to maximize himself on the court. Defensively, he doesn’t offer a great deal, as he’s often willing to put the effort in, but just doesn’t really have the physical tools to be much of a presence here.
Morrow is not just a 3-point shooter, though, only 34% of his field goal attempts last season came from behind the arc in fact. He does an excellent job of using shot-fakes to get his man in the air and then calmly pull-up for an open jumper from 18-20 feet. He shoots almost just as many mid-range jumpers as 3-pointers, and makes over 50% of those too. His ability to make shots at such an outrageous rate should allow him to stick around the NBA for quite some time, especially if he continues to improve on his defense and ball-handling skills.

I agree that people are overstating the need for a center. You just don't see that many dominating ones coming out of college. The days when you had guys like Ewing, Shaq, Mourning, Olajuwon, Mutombo, Robinson, etc. all playing at the same time are probably over.

To be fair, It's not like that Miami team can be replicated and modeled after. Miami is such an exception to the rule that it's really unfair to use them as an example.
This is going to be debated for the years to come. When the Lakers won their back to back, people said small ball was dead and now that Miami has won it, people say NBA centers are dead. It's going to go back and forth. At the end of the day, Talent trumps all.

I didn't see that at the time...pretty cool that he wore the Petrovic jersey.

Couldn't have said it better. There's no one or two ways of doing it. I think this whole Spurs model and Thunder model bullshite is being way overblown.
You have to take every opportunity to make your team better, whether that's trading for a 23 year old All Star PG, signing a 6th man to a big contract, or signing an above average 3 point shooter to fill out the end of your roster.

While I agree, it would be better to have one guy for match ups.

What is the chance we get Brandan Wright? I saw people mentioning him.

ya, the positional need is overhyped, but it doesn't change the fact that we will get beat up/fail at rebounding with our current roster (especially in our division and in the Western conference).

yup. upgraded the position for less money.

Morrow barely was an NBA player last year.
That's because the Mavs coach, while thought of as great around the league, is an idiot. I really wanted Dallas to keep this guy.
It's funny, I've realized since the draft that there really isn't a whole lot of good basketball minds on this board lmao. Being upset about trading a skinny big who is a lesser version of a player you already have, and has huge red flags, for a young all star pg who is a huge upgrade?
B!tching about signing a backup 27 year old, lights out shooting sg for cheap? Talking about hoping this means Gordon gets traded? Not wanting to give up Ryno for Asik, even though Ryno isn't a good fit with your small franchise big man, and Asik is damn near a perfect fit? Entertaining stuff at least.

thanks for your input, we will pass it along to the higher ups.

Morrow will receive the veteran's minimum salary with a player's option on the second season of his contract. The Hornets have had a strong offseason in which they have agreed on deals to acquire All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday and forward Tyreke Evans in trades.

People were only worried about the Ryno for Asik trade because we would be taking Houston's backup center to give them their starting PF that can drop 20 on any night and provides serious matchup issues. We would be strengthening our division rival, and we don't want to do that. If Asik was on an Eastern team then I feel like we'd have done it already.
I don't get the other 2 points you made, though. Although Mr Blue was the only one who seriously thought Anthony fricking Morrow was Eric Gordon's replacement.

not much bitching in 7 pages...people are concerned (legitimately) with the holes at other position(s) and no cap space.

It is at least a little bit likely that Dell Demps and the organization would love to be rid of Eric Gordon.

It's too early to tell this....It's way too early to say who/what Davis will fit with. He's only scratched the surface. Ryno spreads the floor better than just about anyone. He is also still improving and should be even more effective with more talent this season....likable guy...people don't want to trade him...Asik isn't exactly the surest thing either.

That's funny. We've all been sitting around talking about how we wished landrywasbeast would post more and enlighten us with his superior "basketball mind".
