1. It's silly to say Jones' coaching would've kept him in the NBA when he coached one NBA player in his entire N. Texas tenure, and he hasn't even played a second in the league yet. Maybe he coached some during his short Memphis tenure but I doubt it was him that put them over the top.
2. More importantly even if Jones could've taught Tyrus the world at LSU that doesn't mean he'd return for a 3rd year when he was a lock to be a high lottery pick after his RFr year.

It's not questioning Jones' coaching at all. You can be a great college coach and have high drafted players who don't last long/don't contribute in the NBA.

You have to recruit potential NBA players before you can coach them. I think everyone would agree that he has now done the recruiting and that the next few years will see how that plays out.
