Very good program guy
Some very questionable game day coaching moments.
Overall, he's been a huge positive for the program and there aren't more than a handful of coaches I'd trade him for.

It's been an awesome 8 years. I love Les

Les has been great for LSU. He's the only coach in CFB that gets judged against Saban which is a bit unfair because Saban is possibly the greatest HC in the history of the game.

GOD DAMMMIT WOULD ANYONE PAY FREAKING ATTENTION...ANYONE....
Just look up margin of VICTORY over the last 8 years....LSU is in top 10 virtually every year.
This is while playing in the best division of the best conference in college football.
And given your first premise is shite, it makes the remaining deductions stupid and short sighted.

I'm biased being a Les homer (but with eyes wide open). To me, by and large, it's been good since 95. That 89-94 nadir still has a bad aftertaste.

and here I thought this was going to be a well thought out synopsis of coach miles' tenure here
then you post this

-game day coaching has been poor (strategy and use of players... Has gotten worse over the last 2 years)
-game day organization and discipline has been poor (penalties, delay of game, busted plays, use of time outs, etc)

I wish he'd keep his foot on the throttle and go for the throat more often but with that, I understand not every game should be a blowout. Having said that, I love him as LSU's coach.

I think he's a damn good coach who will never quite get the accolades he deserves largely bc he had the misfortune of being in the same division with Saban and on the receiving end of the great mulligan.
The two-loss NC, the ugly offenses, the constant close games seemingly regardless of opponent...all that would be disregarded if the 2011 team got the NC it deserved.

THE GOOD
He's not afraid of bringing in high profile coaches in his staff. Even though he takes one year to long to do it. Having been a huge fan and shareholder for 30+ years, I'm content.

I enjoy close games. Much more exciting.

Overall, the very best continual 8 yr period of excellence I have known as a fan or the school has seen from its get-go.
Also, the 8 yr period coincides with the very best 8 yr period in SEC football history.
Enough said in my book.

Washed my hands of Les after Ole Miss 09 Any coach that ends a game the way will burn you time and time again
That said. Geaux Tigers

Miles has the best coaching staff as a whole in college football.
Saban still has the best recruiting program at Alabama.
Urban Meyer is just getting started a Ohio St.

The biggest problem I have is that he doesn't let his offensive coordinator call ALL, or at least most of the plays. You can't be a successful play caller looking over your shoulder. They have to be free to call it the way they see it. If Gary Crowton had free reign of the offense, it would have been much different. His offences at La Tech were the most explosive and wide open I've seen. At LSU he was muzzled.

I was skeptical at first, but he has done a pretty good job overall. Yes, there have been some disappointments and even embarrassments. However, he has a NC under his belt. A lot of beloved coaches out there don't.
Compared to a couple of the goobers we have had (Hallman, Archer, Hallman, Stovall, Hallman, did I mention that rat bastard Curley?) Miles is actually quite a welcome relief. He seems like a regular guy, wins a lot, and doesn't insist on fans kissing his dick like Saban. Saban was good, but he was a goddamned prick, even to some in the Athletic Dept).
