I did that too. The end belt came off of it too. Wedged it back on and kept filling it with hot water for a few days until it swelled back up.

Yeah, just had to take a mallet to the end rings. Seem to be seated back in place.

Well I know that PBW has sodium carbonate in it but I think it has other stuff as well and I am not sure what that is.

Wouldn't this be akin to scrubbing your cast iron skillet with steel wool, soap n water? You would need to re-season. So in the case of the barrel, pour whiskey in and let it soak into the wood.
